@springbride23:  No one is going to be paying attention to your chairs! As long as they function for sitting purposes it doesn’t matter what they look like. You won’t be looking for them in the wedding photos (at least I hope not, that would be weird). Decorating chairs is silly. People will be sitting on them or hanging their coats on them anyway.

@springbride23:  Black is a neutral and goes with everything. The minute your guests are in their seats, you will not see the chairs at all.

A black chair with a blue or yellow sash is still a black chair. I wouldn’t worry about it.

If you use chair covers, you will have a sea of white that will overwhelm the navy and yellow.

I don’t have any pictures to share, but we used the banquet chairs.  I really think chair covers are a waste unless you have dirty and staiend chairs.  I find that the covers get in the way and I don’t think they add that much to the wedding/reception look.  You only notice when the room is empty.  Once people show up, the chairs get covered with coats, shawls, purses and people.  The room will be darker so you’ll notice even less.  Plus, how many pictures will you actually take with the chairs in them?  Maybe one of the entire reception space?  I didn’t notice any chairs in my pictures.  And even just went through the pictures my uncle took.  Out of 111 reception pictures, you can see a chair in exactly one, and it’s barely even in the picture.

I got chair covers because the chairs were similar as that but a horrid burgundy colour.  And our colours were cobalt blue and white.

The chair covers were not that expensive, and when I walked into the reception the wow factor was definitely worth it.

@springbride23:  The chairs don’t seem too bad. I doubt anyone will even notice them (whether you do something to decorate them or not) Maybe just buy a couple of lint rollers and have the bridal party do quick touchups. 🙂

Our venue has black banquet chairs as well and our colors are navy and grey.  We are not going with chair covers either.  Here is what our room looked like (at another wedding) with no covers:

@springbride23:  I am having the EXACT same dilemma!!!!!!!!!! Our venue has brown and champagne colours, but our colours are navy blue, peach and ivory. Apparently the fitted navy blue chair covers only exist in my mind, not at decor companies, so I am going with ivory chair covers with a navy blue band, and then navy blue tablecloths.

I can somewhat understand the “waste of money” point of view seeing as how spending money on chair covers doesn’t actually change the purpose of the chairs..they’re still chairs! But I know I want to achieve a certain look, and in order to get that, I have to spend money (within reason of course). We have found chair covers for $2.90-3.00 that includes set up and take down, the chair cover, and the band that goes around with with the sparkly jewel on it. If you have the money for it, I say go for it!
