We are trying to do a 10k budget, 50 people.

Venue: $900 (same location for ceremony & reception)

Food: $2000

Booze: hopefully under $1500… We’re doing beer/wine only but can’t bring our own in

Photography: $4000, a splurge I’m insisting on

Cake: free, a talented family member is making it

The remaining money will be used for decor, invites, officiant, rentals, other things I’m probably forgetting. The space is beautiful on its own so it doesn’t need much, and having only 50 guests helps keep costs down. We aren’t having a DJ, FIL are paying for centerpiece flowers & the rehearsal dinner. We aren’t including outfits, rings, or honeymoon in that budget.

We are so very lucky to be getting $10K from my parents…I’m the baby of the family, my oldest brother had a courthouse wedding, and my other brother is 22 with no signs of settling down anywhere in the near future (which is fine of course!), so they feel especially generous. Anyway, we decided we will absolutely spend NO MORE than that amount, and we want to keep the costs as low as possible! That being said, our current breakdown is as follows:

Venue: $600

Food: $1800

Cake: $150 – good deal from a family friend

Drinks: $750

Photographer: $2200 (definitely our splurge!)

DJ: $200 – FI’s best man DJ’s weddings, so he has all the equipment. We are giving his cousin, who assists him at weddings sometimes and will be the DJ for BM wedding in August 2014, $200 to serve as the DJ

My dress: $300 –haven’t bought it yet but I am strict on this budget, I am a clearance shopper so I WILL find a bargain!

Flowers: $200

Other decorations/centerpieces: $250

All gifts (BP and parents): $300

Stamps & Invites/STDs: $275

Programs: $30

Ceremony, officiant gift, and music: $500

Total: $7255

We haven’t finalized much yet, so we are hoping to bring the food costs down a bit, as well as some of the other costs as well…we are optimistic that IL will pay for the rehearsal dinner, as they did with FSIL, but that has not been discussed yet (his parents are not planners). We have not included our rings in the budget, though FI’s will be less than $100 and mine will be anywhere from $300-600. I love seeing all the budgets that come in under 10k! It gives me hope 🙂

well I live in a very affordable part of the US so this might be unbelievable for some people BUT ….

* food: about $5000 total for around 190 people (parents paid)

* alcohol: about $500 (parents paid)

We paid for everything else:

* photographer: $1400

* reception venue: $1400

* ceremony venue: $350

* flowers (silk from the bridesbouquet.com): $150

* my dress: $600 (alterations were $75 and done by a family friend)

* shoes (sandals from Aerosoles.com): $30

* my hair/makeup: about $100

* cake: $400 (cupcakes done by a high school friend with her own business)

* BM/GM gifts: $200 – $300

* champagne glasses: $30ish

* cake toppers: $40ish

* decorations: (paper lanterns, blue/clear “table sprinkle,” candles, shallow glass bowls, wedding arch, tulle): $200 – $300ish

* invitations: $250 (custom made by a friend/BM who is a graphic designer)

* his tux: $180ish

* my wedding band: $180 from Amazon.com

* his wedding band: $260 Tungsten from King’s (on sale)

I think we totaled a little over 10K but it IS possible to pull of a wedding for under that number.

It just takes a lot of extra research, patience, and creativity! Good luck!
