Your wedding was beautiful! I really love the tissue packets and will probably steal the idea. How'd you make them? Your advice to focus on what will make a difference to guests -- the thoughtful touches and stuff seems spot on. It's what I have to chant to myself when I want stuff that costs too much and will only make a difference to me (in the short run. in the long run I will only regret overspending).
What was your budget breakdown? You deserve a standing ovation for the final price tag.
I think the biggest thing your wedding shows is how important good photography is! Your pictures really show how beautiful your wedding was. I love love love that your wedding cake was peach pie!
What an inspiration for brides on a budget! I love the pictures and all the details of your wedding. How smart it was to book it as a brunch instead of a reception. It saved you tons and still turned out so beautiful!
Thank you all so much! Your kind words make me smile!
Bluegreenjean - the tissue packets were super fast and easy, I thought they were a great project to add a little something. I bought 3 x 5 open end poly bags from this ebay seller: http://stores.ebay.com/uniquepacking. They were about $6 with shipping and I used them for the hugs/kisses packets, the tissue packets, and to package the chocolate spoons. Anyway, I bought those pocket packs of kleenex and put three in each packet. The tops are just scrapbook paper with a decorative edge stapled on.
As far as a budget breakdown, here's what I can give you:
Various crafting supplies: $525 (made invitations, programs, placecards, table names, chocolate spoons, stuff to make the bouquets/bouts/corsages, ribbon, etc.)
Rings: $420
Attire: $215 (this is my shoes and undergarments as well as John's tux - my mother made my dress and bought all the materials for me, but I would assume around $300 more, mainly in beads)
Flowers: $335 (200 tulips, plus greens)
Photography: $2110 (8 hours, digital negatives, 4 x 6 of all images in leather albums)
Church fees: $425
Reception: $985 (delicious brunch for 44 ppl at 17/head plus 20% service fee and tax)
Reception stuff: $190 (guestbook and markers, paper tablecloths so people could color, crayons, tons of mason jars, pie server)
Computer stuff: $45 (istockphoto credits, animoto credits, and a pro flickr account for guests to upload pictures)
Thank you cards: $80 (vistaprint w/ coupon)
Gifts: $420
Makeup so I could DIY it: $265
12 delicious varities of pie instead of cake: $160
Marriage license: $30
Music downloads from iTunes: $56
Total: $6260
In calling it a $7k wedding I'm really highballing it, but that's because a) my husband was horrible about remembering to give me reciepts, b) the last few weeks before the wedding were crazy and I lost track of somethings, and c) my parents bought a lot of stuff (all the purple tulip candelholders, the ring bear, my dress materials, etc) and some other stuff was gifts (toasting flutes) so I'm rounding things up a lot to try to cover for that stuff. I think 7K is a fairly accurate estimate - it may in fact have been lower.
I'm not including rehearsal dinner, sunday barbeque or honeymoon expenses either, mainly because I didn't have a lot to do with any of those things, and they weren't technically the "wedding." That seems pretty normal for these type of things anyway!
I loved your wedding! You did something beautiful without a lot of money. We're on a budget as well and it's so great to see someone who has done something so wonderful for so little (by today's standards). Thanks for sharing!
Your mom made your dress?! Wow! The bead work looks wonderous! I glad you didn't skimp on the photography...it shows! Beautiful wedding. An inspiration to all brides working with a budget! (which prolly is ALL brides!)
Thanks! My fiance and I have about the same budget for a NH wedding next summer, and this was very encouraging. We're also photographers (by degree:), therefore don't want to skimp despite our limited budget. Maybe if we shot weddings we could afford our own ;)
And I love that you chose the Magnetic Fields...that made me so happy!!!

Hi everyone!
I just posted my wedding photos and wrap-up on a livejournal wedding planning community (my wedding planning savior, outside the hive of course!) and wanted to share them here as well. I really couldn't be happier!
They're here.
I hope you enjoy them! Let me know if you have any questions!
