I'm not sure if I'd call circles and "puffiness" the same thing, but I just started using this product by Patricia Wexler and I think it's working a little...
I typically have pretty bad under eye circles as well. I haven't had any luck getting rid of them, but I have found that the bare minerals multi-tasking face in bisque does a phenomenal job with coverup. They pretty much just disappeared... I mean, they're still there, but you can't tell that they are. :D
Mary Kay TimeWise® Targeted-Action™ Eye Revitalizer is AMAZING!! I used it for a while... it's when I STOPPED using it that I noticed the difference - my dark circles and puffiness came back. Needless to say, I'm using it again!
I have a friend who is a newscaster, and he says they use Preparation H for puffiness. He keeps it in his refrigerator. His eyes usually look great. Obviously on the air he also wears professionally applied concealer!!
i hear ya! i'm fair-skinned, so my dark circles look even darker.
go to your nearest bobbi brown counter and talk to the consultant. bobbi brown has an amazing under-eye concealer (that comes with powder to set it! the eye cream is light and nice (you have to get the eye cream for underneath the concealer). it's a super-highly-recommended makeup product.
another option is applying a lightening pencil (we're talking super-fair to almost white with diffused sparkle) to the areas that are dark (i have something called benefit 'flash'--it's called something else now). basically, it deflects light from darker areas. i've been using mine again and people have said i look more awake.
I am 50 and have tried them all. I spoke with my skin specialist and as he said NO product can change the veins that are under the skin that create the dark shadow.
I have invested in Smashbox Photofinish and Laura Mercier Secret camouflage. All gone!
Any tried and true methods out there for getting rid of dark circles under the eyes? Great coverup? Creams? Hylexin?

posted by MsB 212 posts 8 months agoBenefit makes a great cream for under eye circles called eyecon. Or at least, I think it's great. They sell it at Sephora.
posted by prettykatie 158 posts 8 months agoI haven't found anything to get rid of mine, but MAC and Laura Mercier make great concealers to at least cover them up.

Laura Mercier makes a great duo set that covers dark purple bags like mine.

posted by rosychicklet 312 posts 8 months agoI use a pack made from grated potatoes. Just put them in the fridge to cool them and then cover your eyes with them under a cotton pad for 15 minutes.
I think it works but maybe its psychological :)
posted by pinky 50 posts 8 months agoThanks for the suggestions. I don't have puffiness, so much as dark circles.
posted by rosychicklet 312 posts 7 months agoHylexin is supposed to be the best one out there. http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P113602#moreInfo
I've been considering investing myself.

posted by scheri 47 posts 7 months agoThere's two things I haven't seen so far being mentioned so I'll pipe in:
1) Under eye circles can be caused by a lack of iron in your diet. If you're not a vegetarian, try eating a steak every now and then!
2) SLEEP! Lack of it is the #1 reason I think that people get dark circles. A few good night's rest in a row can make a world of difference.
Give these a try :)
