I have very light and fine hair under my arms, but still wax.  I usually do it about every three weeks to a month, at about 1/4″.  I did laser for a while but it wasn’t making a significant difference in growth so I went back to waxing.

I don’t think it will grow back that fast if you do it the Thursday before.  If I were you I would start now, you’ll probably see a lot less growth/darkness by the time September rolls around as well.  It hurts like a b*&%# the first time, but I don’t find it bad at all anymore.

@loveandapitbull: You might be able to do laser still, if you start like this week. Groupon has some awesome deals. I personally LOVE it. I just did the bottom half of my legs too and am currently doing the top of my legs (thighs).

You could always pluck the stubble with some tweezers if there are any long enough :p  That’s what I used to do.  Now I’m just lazy and shave though.

I think laser might be a good idea.  It did wonders for my legs, which had dark, dark hair (TMI? lol).  It’s pricey, but if it’s done right, the hair won’t grow back.  My legs are hair-free after about four years.  It probably helped that I had dark hair and light skin, but the tech has probably gotten better since then.

@loveandapitbull:  I started waxing in order to lighten the area (waxing is an exfoliation method too) and it pretty much worked. They stay smooth for about 10 days, but it is absolute HECK waiting for the hair to grow out long enough to get it done again. I’m always super self-conscious about raising my arms during that in-between period. In sum, after my wedding, I will likely return to shaving, lol.

It was totally worth the growing out phase to have smooth armpits for my wedding day, I did it once a about a month before to see if my skin would handle it, and it worked great.  a few weeks of sleeves were a small price to pay for no stubble or darkness in my stapless gown.  besides, i figured i was getting married, what do i care if guys/people looked at me funny at the gym?

I’ve done this once, the weekend before my wedding. I’d do it at least a week in advance in case of irritation, infection, or allergic reaction. Or you could do a trial run this summer to make sure it goes smoothly. You don’t want bright red underarms on your wedding day!

I found it wasn’t as painful as I expected. I do think I needed a little more growth, though, because I’d only let it grow for about a week to a week and a half. Still, she got most of the hair, and I didn’t need to shave for the wedding or at all during the honeymoon. I didn’t have any irritation. It was great!

I LOVED waxing my armpits, it made them sooo smooth. I unfortunately had to stop though, because the strips I used ALWAYS badly irritated them for a couple of days and it was painful. You might want to invest in an epilator!

@loveandapitbull:  Definitely do it at least once before your wedding. That way you’ll know how much time you have before the hair starts growing back.  I would go a week before your wedding instead of two days, because sometimes sensitive areas like armpits and bikini line bleed when you wax.  The last thing you want are armpits full of scabs with your white sleeveless dress.
