I have an issue with my dress (well, part of it) and would love your help. [Dress product pic at the bottom] I will be wearing a skirt over the short dress during the ceremony, to make a full length dress. But I’m taking the skirt off for the reception. The problem is, since it’s a tight dress with frustratingly thin lining, it’s fairly see-through. And I need undergarments. I had a set that I wanted to wear, they’re the same color as the dress, but even the slightest texture (the bra has lace, and the bottom has a bow) shows bumps. You can also just plain see the lines and silhouette of the two. Definitely something I want to avoid.
I’ve been looking into shape wear, but I’ve never used it before. Is that on the right track? Obviously something strapless is necessary, but I don’t want to be pulling it up all day. And something that you couldn’t see the lines of underneath (so it should probably be one piece, right?) …Bleh. Wishing it wasn’t so see-through, right now. I just realized how hot my ensemble will be in August, especially if I add shape wear. 😛
Anyway, does anyone have any experience with this? I would be grateful for any advice!

Nude colored seamless shapewear should do the trick just fine. I love your dress!

What size are you? They can be tough to find if you’re not a fairly “normal” size. I’ve found Herroom.com to be very helpful and to have a wide variety of shapewear options in their complete range of sizes. They even have a live chat so you can just ask them what they recommend.

do you absolutely HAVE to wear undergarments? Just asking…

well as far as the shape/style…you have to try stuff on and get what you’re comfortable with. But as far as the material and color…you shouldn’t ever wear white under white, for some reason it just shows right through, especially under lights! I wish more people knew that, it’s a really common mistake I see all the time.
Choose something in a shade that is really close to your skin tone, I suggest a light nude. I have super pale skin so sometimes I can get away with a very light blush pink color (not dark though). Also I would skip the lace if the lining is thin, consider a seamless bra, possibly even a front closure to keep the back smooth as well.
I know you mentioned shapewear, spanx has a GREAT slip that would work perfectly with your dress. It almost looks like a dress itsself, it’s a short strapless/tube top slip that smoothes everything out (and slims a little too :)). I’d still wear a strapless bra and a thong under it though, but the slip would help camoflauge the color and smooth out the lines.
