The crinoline recommended is probably to make your skirt a bit fuller. You can always try your dress on with and without the crinoline to see which you like better.
I believe I have the crinoline you mentioned, mermaid shape with spanx-like top. yes, it was fairly expensive (about $80.00 online) but the spank part was totally worth it! You'd pay that much for decent shapewear anyway. I was able to wear a regular strapless bra with my dress, but personally I think the best combo is this:
have them sew cups into the dress
have them add wide elastic with hook & eye closures (just like the back of a bra) to the inside back of the dress. It does up nice and tight, then you just zip or tie up the back of the dress
add the crinoline/spanx to control your lower half.
I need one of those spanx crinoline thingies, does anyone have a link to one?

Hi ladies,
My fitting is coming up and i have not even thought about what to wear underneath my dress! I was thinking a corset bra but then they suggested a trumpet skirt thingy underneath that is sort of like spanx with tulle at the bottom. BUT it is pricey! Anyboy know of an alternate places to buy wedding dress undergarments rather than at the bridal shop? Thank you!!!
