…tends toward the slinky side, which makes undergarments an issue, especially because of the low-cut, lace back. Although I think nude-colored undergarments are the un-sexiest things on the planet, I always thought you were supposed to wear nude under “difficult” dresses.
In terms of bra style, I was thinking that something like this…
…might be the best option. It comes only in white, ivory, and black, so I thought it was a non-starter. But couple of people have said that a white bra would look less obvious through lace (if it shows in back) than nude because white would look like it is part of the dress. So I’m seriously thinking about getting white, but I don’t want to set any records for tackiness, if you know what I mean.

I think that hopefully that bra is low enough that you wouldn’t see much through the back of the dress. I would probably go with nude since white can show through the white material of the dress with camera flashes.

Nude, nude, nude! I don’t know why the post popular undergarmets worn by women are white because it sticks out like a sore thumb! You should definitely do nude and keep looking for a bra that will not show under your dress…there are plenty of options out there.
Depending on how you feel about thongs this could be an option…but just keep looking because there are lots out there!

Hmm that’s actually pretty difficult. It seems like the bra would show through on the back, and if it didn’t it would be a close call. I know that usually with low backs you would wear a bra with a back that dips down as well, but the one in the picture doesn’t seem like it would dip down enough.
Have you tried the dress on in person to see exactly what part of your back would be showing? Honestly seeing either a nude or a white bra is going to look strange and it would probably be pretty obvious that it was a bra and not part of the dress.
Have you ever considered a stick on bra? I’m small chested (size A-B) and i have a adhesive bra that works great. You can position the bra where ever you want, kinda hard to explain, but you can smush everything together and position the adhesive cups closer if desired. lol

Have you talked to the seamstress doing your alterations? Maybe they can just add cups to the dress then you won’t need a bra.

i always wear a nude color bra under a white shirt. the white on white makes the bra even more noticeable. but with that back, i’d look into getting stick on bra cups if that’s possible. it would seem like such a hassle trying to find a bra whose straps won’t show along the back. is it a dress that can handle having cups sewn into it? maybe you can ask your seamstress [if you’re having it altered] for a suggestion.

always do nude! I was watching a show about undergarments and they said you should never wear white undergarments! nude only 🙂 good luck

@tea – I did try having cups sewn in, but they showed through So I really do need a bra.

I agree with nude. Just have something different to change into on wedding night and you’ll be fine.

@Tunacupcakes – I think the model picture is pretty accurate. The lace part goes down nearly to the waistline. I’ve tried using stick-ons twice in my life, without much success.

It depends what your skin color is. Nude or something darker… depending on your skin tone. You should always do your best to match your underwear to your skin if you are wearing under a light color and want it not to show.

Nude…. LIke pumpkin said, try to match it to your skin as close as possible!

Tunacupcakes has it right, I think. That bra is NOT going to work with the dress. You need one with a lower back.
The one you posted is GOING to show through the lace back, unless the pictures you posted are extremely misleading. Regardless of the color you pick, you’d be worrying about whether people were noticing it. Spare yourself some anxiety and keep looking.

The texture of the lace will be noticable under that sleek satin. I think that is more of concern then white or nude! It is a beautiful dress you don’t want lumpy lace and seams taking away from that gorgeous satin. Follow the advice of the other bees and ask to have cups sewn into your gown. I did that 26 years ago!
