@MrsPinkPeony:  Nikon Coolpix has an underwater version, ranging from $100-$350. I have used mine in the pool, in salt water, dropped it in the sand, etc, and it’s all good!

We purchased a dica pac (from Amazon). We haven’t used it yet but it has great reviews. It was a little under $50. It’s a cover for a digital camera, so if you find your selection of waterproof cameras low, I recommend a non waterproof camera with the dicapac.

@MrsPinkPeony:  We used a disposable underwater camara when we went snorkling for our cruise…pics turned out fine and I was only out 19 dollars…

@MrsPinkPeony:  I bought a used Olympus Stylus 850 SW for our honeymoon, but my budget was $75.  It took good pics underwater and GREAT pics not in the water.  After we got it out of the water it shut off for about an hour and I thought for sure it was dead but then it came back on!  I think you can definitely find a good one with your budget 🙂

Examples of the pics I took on our HM with it:

Not in water (impressed with shutter speed!):

In water:

Under water (in wavy conditions):

ETA: We considered disposables but at $20/each and I would want at least one for me and one for DH I chose just to go the used route for better picture quality and lower cost.

The Disposables are pretty good, but film is pricey to print compared to digital printing, and you can’t share those online unless you get them digitized, which costs even more $$. Plus, you can only use the camera once.

The Fuji Finepix XP series has some good options. It’s waterproof, freezeproof, shock proof, drop proof.

@MrsPinkPeony:  I’m at work, but I can post pictures from my camera. I have the latest underwater canon. I adore it.

I used it on a cruise FI and I went on.

Quite a few people had the cute little fujifilm, but we ended up talking to 3 or 4 of them and they ALL had problems with sand or water getting into the camera. I felt so bad for them!

@MrsPinkPeony:  I totally understand, we may have gotten lucky.  We brought our normal non-underwater camera just in case anything happened to the waterproof one.  But it was nice not to have to worry about the fancy one while hiking and near the water (like for the dolphin show we sat right up close and got splashed on without a worry!)

I have the Olympus Stylus Tough 6000 and it’s great. Takes wonderful pictures above the water and below. I took it tubing in the Salt River and into the ocean in Maui. I’ve dropped it and bashed it against rocks and it still works great and has no leaks. I bought a floating strap just in case I dropped it in the water so I wouldn’t lose it.

I have the fuji and I’ve never had problems with it. The only issue I’m having right now is that i can’t find it lol! I’ve used it underwater multiple times and in heavy water situations like water parks and the beach.
