WHAAAT!! First of all, did you call them when you were trying to get your final head count? Second of all F THAT! 5 extra guests is insane. If there are 5 girls CLEARLY they will know someone at the wedding. They have 4 other people to talk to all night so they sure as hell don’t need dates. I would definitely set these people straight. Tell them your final count was already sent in or something.

@brideatbeach:

Some people are clueless. I would call them ASAP, tell them the invite was for them only and warn them a hostess will be at the door with a checklist.

Don’t worry…I had a cousin that I had not seen since Daddy Bush was President call excited about the wedding. Needless to say, I was not guilted into pay for this cousin to attend

WOW!! That is unbelieable!! I’d get my parents who is the sibling of the aunt or uncle to explain there is no way.

Wow. I’d be knocking heads, not just venting, lol. Don’t get the middle schooler needing a date, back when I was that young my parents would have told me no way. Hope it works out!

Have any of the boys come to family gatherings (been dating for a long time)?  If so, maaaaaybe they can come.  Same with the oldest daughter since she’s over 18.  But even so, it IS very rude for them to assume they can bring guests, so you are definitely allowed to call up your aunt/uncle to reject their attendance number (that’s 12 people for one family!  yikes!)

Glad to hear your uncle responded appropriately — what can your aunt have been thinking? That blows my cousin bringing her uninvited “hiking buddy” out of the water!
