I'm also having trouble picking a song! Is there one that reminds you of your dad? I have a few that make me think of my dad, but they are mostly 70's rock songs, lol.
I think any song that's not a typical heartfelt song would be unique, as that's what most people choose.
I am a huge Stevie Wonder fan, so my father chose "Isn't she Lovely"...I'm not sure that it's really unique, but it is me :) Since it's kind of a long song, when Stevie starts going to town on his harmonica, the bridal party will come join us and try to get other people out there dancing too!

Another big issue I'm having is that my father doesn't dance...wait...let me rephrase that...he has NEVER danced. My dad's side of the family is VERY religious. They don't drink, they don't play cards, and the don't dance. I am NOT religious...and there will be dancing. I talked to my dad about this, and he is fine with it (my how his moral have relaxed over the years). I'm trying to find something short and sweet, and someone who know nothing about dancing could easily pick it up (aka...good beat).
There is a great thread on this here. The thread includes a couple of links to good lists of unique songs, as well. I'm still trying to figure this one out - both my father and I love music and are into 70's rock, so we'll probably pick something meaningful to us from that era.
Thanks Farmersdaughter. I followed that thread, and there were some really interesting songs there. I still can't seem to find a good one. The few that I like, are either really LONG or too fast (I'm assuming a slow swaying song would be easier for my father than an upbeat something). Hmmm...I love the song "Cinderella" by Steven Curtis Chapman, but that is almost becoming a bit overdone.
Does anyone know of any religious songs that aren't in your face religious? I bet my dad would feel more at home with something like that.

My dad isnt a dancer and not very huggy but Im choosing Celine Dion...Because you loved me. I listened to a bunch of songs on u tube and I cried when I heard it.
I would suggest listening to a few and you'll know when you find the ONE

Hi Bees! I'm struggeling with the music for the Father/Daughter dance. There are so many song out there that have been overdone (My Father's Eyes, What a Wonderful World, ect...) and I am in search of truely UNIQUE Father/Daughter Dance songs. Any suggestions?
Oh...and I would prefer NO country.
