we're using vintage postcards of NYC that I'm ordering through an Etsy designer..I'm having everyone write on them and then putting them in a photo album so I can see both sides of the card....I agree..finding something different and unique is nice and your idea sounds great about the bridges...google image the bridges in Pittsburg and see what comes up.. you can always save them and make them black and white if you wanted for table numbers...
@leelee: We're thinking of doing something similar. I'd love to know the name of the designer you're using. Isn't Etsy great?!
Sarahnyc23; the designer is Jennie....that's her shop name too..I love Etsy! I'm having a lot of things designed on there!
Get a nice album.. buy some polaroids (if no longer available, try fujifilm).. take a shot of the person then ask them to sign the guest book.. I did this thing for 3 weddings and couples were so amazed by it.. -Ian
We're thinking about getting a photography book with images from our honeymoon location (hopefully Paris!) and asking guests to sign the pages with a sharpie.

I am going to try to do this at my wedding. While we are taking portraits the guest can have fun with the camera
We're having an old fashion photobooth set up for our guests. They go take their picture and get two personalized copies- one to keep for themselves, and one to add to our guest book and sign! It's unlimited so they can take as many photos as they want! I think it will be super cute and can't wait!!
I am a scrap booker so I am making a scrapbook but every other page will go in without a plastic covering for people to write on. It is kind of a long story but my fiance sends out a daily email question to like 200 people and then lists the results and a new question the next day.. He has been doing for YEARS- long before I have known him. It is fun because a lot of my friends/family are now on it so people who haven't met kind of already feel like they know each other. Each page of our scrapbook/guestbook has a different wedding/love related question and space to answer. Everyone is going to go nuts when they see it.
I collect and frame vinyl LP's (records), so we picked out three non-collectible LP's that we really liked (both the band and the artwork), framed them without the glass, and had everyone "autograph" them with a silver sharpie. We had a rock and roll wedding, so it fit really well and they look awesome on our wall!
Leelee...thanks for the bridges... We may have to use some of them...Now we just need to pick the twelve most popular bridgs of pittsburgh and find black and white pictures of them...
Glad to hear most like the bride idea... I hope it will turn out ok...
Laylabelle.... Love the signing of the records... very creative and perfect for your theme.... How fun to hang them on your walls!
Anyone have any other suggestions to add to my bridge theme for the tables/ guest book? :)
I am a scrapbooker and earlier this year I made a scrapbook/guestbook for one of my friends weddings. It was absolutely precious. I'm going to do the same thing for my August 2010 wedding!
We made a hard-paged book out of our engagement pics with lots of white space that will serve as a guestbook. Something we can use as a coffee-table book for years to come!
I wrote this on another thread, but we are using a hardcover book in our wedding's theme, and having our guests sign the margins.
We're getting married in Pittsburgh too! At Heinz Chapel and the PAA. What about you guys? WE LOVE PGH!!!!!! The bridges idea is great! How fun, I love something different.
EvieMarie...so nice to meet a Pittsburgh Bee out there! We are getting married at the church I grew up in called Dutilh United Methodist ( In Cranberry) and our reception is at the Marriot.... Did you go to Pitt? I wonder how we can meet more people from our area on here? Do you know if there is an area for posts near certain locations?
Glad to hear you like the bridges idea... I definitely want my wedding to be different in all aspects including guest book and table numbers. I figured since my FI and I are huge Pittsburgh fans we should do something that would bring in Pittsburgh in a classy way. Nothing against the photo of the couples and signing it as a guest book but everyone seems to do it now now and my FI and I don't want a big pic of us hanging in our house. I'd rather have a nice classic Pittsburgh print that also reminds us of our wedding. What are you doing for your guest book?
For my Bach party my mum got me a "Bars of Pittsburgh" sign and all my girls will sign the bar that they bought the drink/shot at. I will frame it and then hang it in my basement. (We are in the process of redoing the basement into a bar and I think it will be fun to put it down there.)
How fun! Love it! Yeah, you can go to the tab right under the animated bride's red bouquet at the top that says "Local boards" to find more Pgh brides! We did meet at and graduate from Pitt! We now live out of state, but are headed back to Pgh for our wedding....we're even planning a Hemmingway's after-party (since we met at Hemms!)
Have you found a baker yet for your cake? I am looking for good recommendations
We're having my sister do "I like you" by Sandol Stoddard as our reading. Then we are using the book as our guestbook.
We may have guest sign some sort of card as well:

@EvieMarie thanks for letting me know, I will definitely have to meet some more Pittsburgh bees. How cute you guys met at Hem's. I'm in grad school at Pitt and went there just last week to celebrate the end of our class from the prof from Hell. As for bakers I will get you the name of the one the Marriot is using... It is someone in Shadyside and has excellent reccomendations. I have heard there a few in Squirrel Hill that are really good too.
@Mandalynn....what a creative guestbook idea... I've never heard of anything like that before and it is really cute! :)
@misswinn---THANK YOU, that would be wonderful. I am planning a trip into twon and I need to find my cake-boss! I'll check back for that baker you are having. I'll be travelling for Xmas now, but I wish you and everyone else a very wonderful, and safe, holiday!!
@Mandalynn -- we are using that as our reading too, and I thought about having guests sign it! I had gotten this book for my FI for christmas but the copy I got is SO SMALL, have you found it larger? If so, where?
Another idea we love that I got on weddingbee is buying 1 or 2 magnums and having guests sign them and then opening one at our 1st anniversary and the 2nd at a later anniversary!
Here is the orginal post:

Good Luck!
We used a wine bottle as our guestbook for our Country Italian themed wedding.
BTW I love the idea of the black and white pics of various bridges & that will be super cute to use as table names for your different tables. We actually named our tables of landmarks that we visited in Italy.
I am making a simple scrapbook using our wedding colors, and on every other page will be an engagement picture surrounded by white for the guests to sign, and on the adjacent pages, we will have different elements about us: where we went on our first date, the lyrics to our first dance, little things like that.
I love the wedding poster idea. There are some really cute ones on Etsy and you could get one designed with your favorite bridges. I think I'm going to end up doing the post card thing because we're using post cards for a lot of things. Could you find postcards of Pittsburgh and do the same idea?
We are doing a take on the framed pic and mat signing. I found a storypeople print that I <3 and we are using that instead of a pic of us.
@mizrunzou- I love the idea of the wine bottle!
Unfortunately we are planning on having 300+ guests so I don't think that would work. Any idea on how to have a personalized guest book, but one that could hold 300+ signatures?
We're having 250 guests and we got our favorite children's book, The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein for all the guests to sign. That way, we can read it to our future kids and they'll know how loved and supported they are by people they don't even know!
Practically speaking, the book has a lot of blank space in it for people to write in since the illustrations are pretty plain.
We're doing what Mrs Cupcake did :) We're having little cards and a "memo board" put up for people to write us advice and wishes. When we get back from honeymoon we're going to scrapbook them together with photos from the wedding and honeymoon (non-pro photos) as a reminder of our day.
We are doing a photobooth and the guestbook will be a scrapbook next to the booth, where everyone can paste in their pics and write some messages, stickers, etc...
@cranky: I LOVE the typewriter idea. Seriously amazing.
I am doing a photo mat but the mat is metal and everyone will inscribe their notes into it!
The signatures are more subtle and will look more classy to put up in our house than a sharpie on a white mat!
Love the bridges idea too!
thanks mlbiaso!
For that many people..hmmm...try looking here:

@misswinn1213: I was thinking of doing the same idea with bridges as the table names for my Pittsburgh wedding in a month. Do you have an example of what you ended up doing?

I want a really unique guest book idea. I know many people do that framed picture of the couple and have the guests sign it. I was going to do a platter with our names on it and then have everyone sign it and then it can be baked and something I can serve the many dinners I will be cooking my hubby on it... haha.... I also thought since we live in Pittsburgh and it is the city of bridges to get a print/poster of all of the bridges around pittsburgh and have people sign it and then frame it and hang it in our house. (Maybe then we would have an acutal pic of us at all of the bridges and the bridge names would serve as our table numbers....) (My fiance loves bridges and anything dealing with history so I thought it was a good way to encorporate a love of his into the wedding...( Anyhow....does anyone have any other creative and unique guest book ideas.... I like to be different so the more unique the better! Thanks!
