- Wedding: September 2012
I thought I would share our super unique idea for our processional. We are living proof that you can have WHATEVER you want at your wedding, tradition and society be damned 🙂
The beau and I are walking down the aisle together. My dad is 73, plenty mobile, and we are very close, but he is not escorting me. It’s my second wedding, so he has done it once before, and this wedding event is so far out in left feild that it just doesn’t make sense to use this tradition. We’ve been in search of some fun, funky, upbeat tune to walk to. We had originally talked about ‘Green Onions’, but we have yet to make a final decision on it. There are a couple of other great choices in the running.
75% of our guests will be musicians, our wedding is in a music venue, and we are our own wedding band – we will be playing music all day with our friends and family. The stage and equipment will already be set up on the stage (off to the side), where we are having our short ceremony. My dad is a piano/keyboard player and is going to be an integral part of the whole event (he still gigs every week, probably always will, and will be rocking along with us all day).
Cue the lightbulb:
What if HE PLAYS whatever song we decide on for our processional! The keyboard will be right there, I know he can play pretty much anything we ask him to, and what a deeply personal, special, unique touch to add this celebration. And let me tell ya, he can ROCK ‘Green Onions’! The concept would not be lost on our guests, they will all understand that my dad is “walking me down the aisle” in a very special way that will be meaningful and special between us.
I can’t wait to see him this weekend and pitch this idea to him!
