I love showers that are personalized to the bride's (and when approrpriate, groom's) taste(s)! I threw a breakfast-themed shower -- in the middle of the afternoon -- for my sister, because it's her favorite meal!
That's AWESOME and I would have done a similar thing, but I wasn't having a couples shower (fiance said it's lame) and there arent enough people to do two teams without the boys, and without the out of towners. Many of my friends play on a rec softball team, so we have softball cookouts all the time. Instead we are having a picnic in the park, then going to a baseball game (AAA team in town...they're good) for $1 beer and near-major league quality fastballs. Everyone is completely into it, and now some of the boys are jealous they aren't invited.
Wow, that is a great idea! My FI and I love to golf so I would love a golf-themed shower : )

Hi Hive!
Our family/friends threw my fiance and I a really fun, different shower a few weekends ago, and I just wanted to share in case anybody needed ideas. It was a softball shower!
My fiance and I both love to play softball, so they rented a field at a local park. My aunt even made me a baseball cap “veil” which was super-cute! About 30 guests came, so we had plenty of people for 2 teams, and those who weren't interested in playing had a great time cheering us on. In-between games, we had a cookout and opened presents at some covered picnic tables right by the field. I know it was a success b/c at one time my very manly uncle proclaimed, "This is the first time I've ever had fun at a couples shower!"
I have a few friends getting married soon - does anybody else have unique shower ideas?
