Anyone out there know of very unique and beautiful wedding bands? Particularly with stores in either NC, NY, San Fran, or Chicago? Those are all the cities I'll be frequenting this summer and am hoping to find that special ring!
To find something very unique your best bet would be to have them custom made. Try looking to see if there's any well-known jewelry designers in your area. Also, try seraching Etsy. It's an online community of artists around the world. You can buy their handmade items there. I LOVE everything I've purchased so far.
Search wedding bands, 18k gold rings, etc. a general description of what you're looking for. You'll be sure to find hundreds of results. Its just a matter of finding someones style that you like.
I second the custom-made idea. We designed my engagement ring and plan to go the same route with our wedding bands. The design was all done online working with an artist, which was very fun! But, I was lucky since I'd been to the store before, so I already knew I loved their work. Sorry I don't have any suggestions in the cities you're going to.
