My husband knows me well and knows that if I won the lottery, among other things I would love to have my ancestry traced.  So as a wedding gift he hired a genealogical researcher from the National Archives here in Ireland to trace back my Irish roots!  We got married in April and we're going to meet the researcher after work today for her report.  I'm so excited!

Has anyone else received a really unique or unexpected wedding gift???

Oh my gosh! That's awesome! What a neat  present!!! I don't think we'll be getting anything nearly as cool, but who knows, maybe someone will surprise us ;)

That is SO cool. We have a pretty extensive family tree on my mom's side (back to like.... 1600 I think), but it's the British/Scottish side of the family. I would love to know about the Irish side.

My grandma and grandpa are planning to get us a grandfather clock.  My grandpa really wanted to get us something that would last for years and years to come and could be passed down through the family.  Since FI and I have ZERO desire for china and crystal this was the idea they came up with.  I'm really excited for it!

Well my FI bought me scuba diving lessons and will be paying for my open water dive so I can actually get certified. Yay! He has his Advanced Open Water Dive certification and wants me to fall in love with the ocean like he has. I am still a little nervous though...I did fine in classes, but I don't know what I would do if a fish snuck up on me (and I am deathly afraid of sharks). :-)

My aunt and uncle bought us a Honeymoon Journal off our Honeymoon Registry. With that money I went on Etsy and purchased a leather bound 200-page journal (from a local Montana seller) that we will use to document our honeymoon in detail. I.AM.PUMPED.

My FI got me a Kindle - it was exactly what I wanted!

That's so cool!  My fiance is also really interested in his ancestry.  I will have to remember that as a future gift idea!
