Looking for some help in my search for wedding venues. We are looking for next fall 2013, and we should be having around 260 people (even though my fiance says 300 hahahaha). It seems to be tough to find places that accomodate that many people. Oh and yeah, we’d like it definitely to be on a decent budget.
I’m interested so far in:
1. the Barn on Bridge in collegeville, although I dont think they’ll fit us….as well as the Columbia station.
2. Also I’m looking at the Valley forge Casino, or the Radisson, b/c we love the idea of a hotel being right there, and also a casino for the guests.
3. Interested in the Front and Palmer in the city, but I’m worried about the price and the area. When I told my fiance where it was located, he said NO.
Can anyone give advice on these places, or some other suggestions for unique spaces?

@cathyostro: I looked at Front & palmer as well…I believe it is too small for what you are looking for. They told me 150-200 seated comfortably but it still looked small. The area is not tht bad anymore as they really built up the area.
what is your budget? Vie by Cescaphe is beautiful and unique and the pricing is all inclusive so everything is included. I am using there venue the Tendenza, and fter looking everywhere in Philadelphia and suburbs- you cannot beat the price for what you get. Top shelft open bar, awesome menu choices, cake included, set up, choices of over 200 linens, etc.
another cool venue I saw was the Arts Ballroom by Stephen Starr. They were not open yet when I was looking but i hear they are amazing, the venue is very nice and people have told me their pricing is reasonable since they are newer.

I am in the same dilemma; I seem to get shot down with all the city options I offer also! (I will admit the parking issue has been a reason not to look in the city in my opinion)
I am not looking for as large of a number as you but am struggling too.
I went to a bridal show at the Radisson I was really impressed- the ballrooms were beautiful and the casino was connected but you had to walk a ways to get to it from the ballrooms (which was nice) Also, there are 4 bars throughout for you to go to after 🙂
What is your budget approx.? I can try and let you know of any places I stumble upon 🙂
@ queenbean I LOVE the arts ballroom and I am waiting to hear back from them on pricing, but I am worried about parking :/ I hate to make guests pay to park at a wedding.

- Wedding: October 2013 - The Down Town Club, Philadelphia
@cathyostro: I agree with PP, Front and Palmer isnt big enough. We have 200, and they said it would just fit. It’s a lovely space though. We didn’t book it bc my father didnt like the neighborhood.
And just as a heads up, as of August, all the Cescaphe spaces were booked through 2014. I tried to get any weekend date in October 2013. No such luck.
But give them a call, maybe something fell through.
We booked The Down Town Club. Extremely reasonable for what you get, parking is included, and it’s right in the heart of the city.

@Reeniero: THanks for getting back to me! Really? the Front and palmer only allows that many? I thought it was way higher. I guess i was misunderstood. I def have to cross them off my list then. I was excited about checking it out, but it’s going to be way too small for us.
What is the downtown club? never heard of it? We def are looking for convenience for guests too. That’s why we are looking at the radission valley forge (hotel right there…casino for fun…).
@queenbean: I’m thinking those city places (stephen star, and cescaphe) are way over my budget. Our budget is around 35-40k, and we are really trying to come in as low as we can.
@Marieetobee: Glad you liked the radisson! I’m excited to go look at it. Inititally we thought we’d get a deal b/c of the valley forge casino being new, but the girl on the phone said that their ballroom would be way too small and we’d have to use the radisson. We’ll see! I guess we are looking at a MAX of $150 a person? We haven’t really finalized budget. We are just beginning to go look at places and then see what we are going to do w money/budgets.

Oh and since I”m looking at next Fall, I’m betting those city places (cescaphe) are booked solid. I have a friend who has a date saved for the Atrium at Cescaphe, and is cancelling and asked if I wanted to snag it. But from what I’ve heard, that’s super pricey.

@cathyostro: Yeah, the Atrium is pricey, and also HUGE. But, you have a bigger guest list than me, so you may want to check it out, especially if a date is opening up!

I’m getting married at Columbia station, the maximum seating there is 220. Have you looked at the Foundry in Phoenixville? It’s pricey but beautiful. I looked at the Radisson in VF. The new ballroom is nice but there is a huge stage there and we weren’t going to be having a band. The larger ballrooms were kind of plain. I was also worried about my guests leaving the reception to hang out at the casino 🙂

Have you searched for a place on Partyspace? Here is the link:
If you look to the left side under Advanced Settings, there is a scroll down button for other PA counties. There’s every type of venue from arboretums to ballrooms and restaurants like the Moshulu to rustic barns and art museums. It’s a great local resource for many different budgets.

Try The German Society of Pennsylvania on Spring Garden and 6th. You rent out the room and bring everything in…can save a lot of money that way. Not sure what type of theme you are going for, but it’s a beautiful historic building with gorgeous grounds, too. Good luck!

@BrooklynWife: While the German Society is really beautiful- my husband and I were just married there and the staff is HORRIBLE to deal with. They made my sister (Maid of honor) cry at the wedding because they were so rude, they started construction on the building without telling us beforehand and we had to change our whole wedding, not to mention basically beg them to even get stairs into the front door, they locked our guests who came a few minutes early out in the heat and were completely rude to them. It’s a great space, but really, it’s not worth being so stressed dealing with the staff, take it from me!
