I use to be president of a UUW congregation…In theory the UU celebrate all of the worlds great religons so if you find a good minister it will be great…the good ones I know have a good understnding of most all faiths and can help you incorporate your traditions without being too religous.  On the other hand, some UU folks are pretty anti religon (I know that sounds crazy but I guess I’d say they are anti Chrisitan) and so you’ll have to talk to the minister you find. All in all I think it’s a great idea good luck

My fiance and I are getting married in a UU church.

Unitarian Universalism is based on Judeo-Christian practices, so I think that the very nature of the religion means that you’re respective traditions will be honored.

UU is big on the couple customizing the entire ceremony.  Our officiant gave us a basic outline of the order of the ceremony, and the rest is totally up to us!  I have a handful of UU weddings if you’d like some examples, and I’m about halfway done with my own.  PM me if you’d be interested in seeing them.

Since you designing the ceremony, you could put a Jewish and Christian readings into the ceremony.  I was shocked at how personal you can make your own ceremony, I think you all would be really happy with a UU wedding!

I’d love to find a unitarian minister – so far we’ve had pretty bad luck with the ‘interfaith’ officiants we’ve talked to – one even doubled as a balloon clown. Might be fun somehow, but not our style.
