I really wanna do something other than the candle. But im out of ideas i dont like the sand, hourglass or water one either. I did how ever hear of a unity margarita. The groom poured in the tequila and the bride the mix and then they downed it. Thoughts on this?

We are doing a wine ceremony (venue is a winery so it fits) where you combine white and red wine to make a rosé then you both drink. We may also “toast” each other with the wine, as a sort of extension of our vows.

You could tie a knot with a rope

You can do a hand blessing ceremony. Here’s an example here.

@lauranes99: lol Unity marg sounds hilarious… in sort of a mocking the tradition way tho. Is that what you’re going for? If so, I think its cute!
If you’re religious, I’d suggest a Unity Cross sculpture.
Its two crosses – the man’s cross is the strong outline and the woman’s is the dainty inner portion… the man’s goes on first and the woman’s fits inside next and then they are held together by 3 pegs signifying the Father, Son & Holy Spirit…
Here’s a pic of our first kiss with the assembled cross behind us:
It was a really meaningful part of our ceremony that involved the families (our parents each brought our individual portions of the cross to us, sort of as a blessing/consent of the union) and something we have as keepsake as well.
Here’s a link to a video explaining it further:

We are doing the unity cross too. I was able to find a coupon code on their facebook page. I like that we will be able to display it afterwards and it’s a little bit different. I saw on offbeat bride someone made a unity sandwhich! You could really do anything i guess but it depends on how quirky or serious you want to get!

bottoms up to the unity margarita! Though if you want to keep it a bit more traditional – I’ve seen a unity wine ceremony. They mixed 2 wines which sounds gross to me, but I think you could also do it with 1 type of wine – have 2 glasses, sip out of your own, then pour them into 1 cup and sip out of that.

@lauranes99: my friends had a beer ceremony, with two different beers mixed together
rootbeer float would be cute
i also like the idea of mixing salt and pepper together, if you had kids they could add other spices in too…sort of like the sand ceremony but with a use

We are doing a hand fasting. I have heard of unity seasoning (like a season salt), unity cocktails, and even a unity sandwich.
