I didn't even think of this! We're not doing a unity candle but we're doing a different tradition in its place...I would love to hear suggestions as well!
@Sassygrn: I like that one, thanks for the idea! Are you using the whole song or splicing it down? I read somewhere that the lighting only takes like a minute and most songs are 3 mins or more so I don't want to be standing up there while the song finishes...
@FutureMrs.Notch: We are using the whole song. My problem was that the pastor of the church said we had to use a "Christian song" FI and I do have different tastes in music and LOL he doesn't like country but he told me to chose whatever I wanted. The pastor okayed the Rascal Flatts song so that is what we are going with
@Sassygrn: yeah I don't know what my pastor will say about my song choices yet, he hasn't said anything about being Christian, just nothing inappropriate, we have another meeting with him tomorrow so I'm hoping he'll approve them all!
@FutureMrs.Notch: No, we're doing a wine box and we might be adding something else completely unique to us, but I haven't decided what that is yet!
We're going to cut down the song "Just by Being You" by Steel Magnolia.
I think I'm leaning towards "You and Me" by Lifehouse, which kinda fits in with the other songs, they'll all have kind of a rock vibe, or pop/rock anyway... thoughts?

Please share your song being used during the lighting of the unity candle... I'm looking for ideas here and coming up fairly empty-handed.
