Hi!
I have seen couples do this and never once have I seen it become messy or anything like that. All it is...the couple takes turn pouring the sand into a vase of your choice...which symbolizes a start of your new life together. I'm guessing the only way it'll get messy unles you're SUPER nervous and start spilling sand on the table but I don't think that'll happen...you'll do GREAT! Hope this helps! Happy Planning!

thanks. I am a horribly shy person, so I know I will already be shaking like a leaf. Debating the candle or the sand.
We plan to do the sand ceremony, but are incorporating the children as well. We will each have a different color. We are pouring it into a large vase with a large opening. So hopefully it won't be too hard. Also hoping the wind is not too strong since it is an outside wedding on the pier.

Is anyone doing a sand unity ceremony or have you already done one? Is this as messy as I think it would be?
