What is the wine box idea? I’m looking for non unity candle/sand ideas, too. We both love wine and this sounds interesting . . .

Some couples incorporate a hand or foot washing ceremony.

In fact, Pengy had a beautiful post about her Thai Water Ceremony: http://www.weddingbee.com/2008/08/19/penguin-recap-thai-time/

And I think Brooch recently posted something about washing feet.  I’ll try to find that post for you, too.  It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but I think the symbolism is beautiful!

@kristinlynn86: I’ve seen a “Unity Water” ceremony, it’s pretty much just like the sand but with dyed water that ends up a 3rd color.

@kristinlynn86: Yeah, I know what you mean.  A lot of “ceremonies” have a religious connotation to them.  Another option I just thought of is the ring warming tradition.  You could involve your wedding party, your families, or even all of your guests, depending on your preference.

I want to release 2 butterflies (like: letting our love soar)… I like the wine box idea too but maybe not at the ceremony… I might do this for our honeymoon though and buy a nice bottle of wine while were in FL.

hehe I like that I got a great idea from your thread… thanks!

@kristinlynn86: That is really nice. I wanted to do something similar anyways so it’d be even more special to incorporate it into the ceremony. Could you modify it a little . . . still seal the letters and add something else?
