Hello fellow bees!
I have definitely done my research as far as picking the perfect (yet affordable) venue for our wedding but still haven’t actually booked any place yet. The majority of our family is in the central and twin cities are of Minnesota but the Fiance and I are about 2.5 hours west. Planning from afar is frustrating to say the least, but I think I’ve found our best option.
The University Hotel in Minneapolis is currently undergoing some renovations to update their space. I’ve been emailing back and fourth with one of the event coordinaters (Sara) and she is just a doll to work with! Anyway, compared to other places in MN this venue doesn’t charge a rental fee – just the food and beverage minimum which is only $4000 – easily reached when you have anywhere near or above 100 people – all of which are of legal age to drink! Anyway, as far as the reception goes we’re almost positive that this is our best option – but we’ve been having some trouble finding the perfect ceremony site. To stay within our budget, getting married in a church we’re members of is most definitey our best option, but that isn’t possible seeing as we will be living 2.5 hours away from all the churches in the cities and wouldn’t be able to commit to a membership.
UGH this is getting too long! I was just curious if anyone was married at the University Hotel and has some pictures of the ceremony they would like to share?
Thanks in advance since I know this is probably not gonna get any hits ha

@soon-2b-bmc: Have you check Trip Advisor? http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g43323-d90392-Reviews-University_Hotel_Minneapolis-Minneapolis_Minnesota.html
I haven’t looked but there may be some recent traveler photos. Our ceremony will be down in Rosemount at Cindyrella’s Wedding Gardens. It includes the Officiant, gardens for 3 hours, chairs, sound, and a chapel in Farmington as a backup in case of inclement weather but you could most certainly rent out just the chapel http://www.budgetweddings.info/Services-wedding-chapel.html

Oh, man, those reviews on trip adviser were HORRIFIC! I was told all the renos will be done by the end of this month so I’m not so concerned about all of the negative things that were said… and I didn’t see really any about weddings – but even during the renos it seems like the conference space was nice (good, right?)
On a lighter note, the chapel you’re getting married in is absolutely precious! It’s perfect for a small ceremony and can be easily dressed up with flowers and decor if desired – thank you for sharing!!! I wil definitely be peeking at your photos of your upcoming wedding when they come out! (:

We’re getting married at our church which is in Excelsior, For non-members it’s about $1000 to get married there, we’re also having our reception at the Chanhassen Dinner Theater which is costing us about $6000 but that’s for food, drinks, DJ, cake and a few more things. If you don’t want to get married in a church the chanhassen also does ceremonies either included or like addinitional $100. There’s also a hotel within walking distance so no one has to drive home or to a hotel if they don’t want!
My Fiance is from SD so a lot of our guests are coming from that direction and most of my family and friends are from the cities so it seemed to work out perfect!
Hope any of this helps!

That’s not bad! Just an extra $100 to add a ceremony is extremely reasonable… I’ll look into that, thank you!
