Unprotected sex whilst on the pill?

I’m only on the pill and, since we got engaged, haven’t used condoms and Darling Husband pretty much always finishes inside me.

I don’t consider it to be unprotected sex though.  I am on birth control!  That is what I take that pill every day for!  And about 3 years later, still no pregnancies.

Yes, and haven’t gotten pregnant (or had any scares) in several years. However, I’m VERY good at taking my pill every day at around the same time.

Hmm… sort of. I only use the pill, but I have PCOS. So I have a bit of natural protection because I haven’t ovulated since I was 13. 😛

@OrchidsandCandles:  Yeah my bf and I do this most of the time unless I’m on antibiotics or something. The pill is 99% effective when used correctly.

Usually he doesn’t pull out.

You shouldn’t have to use another method of BC while you’re on the pill in a monogamous relationship, but sometimes I get paranoid too.

I’m only on the pill. I let him finish in, and I’m pretty good at taking the pill around the same time – especially since it has eliminated my period (HEAVEN!!)

Finish. It’s perfectly safe as long as you’ve been on the pill for long enough.

I was on the pill for ten consecutive years and was religious about taking it at the same time every single day. I never used any form of protection with any of my partners (not smart, I know, but I was young and very lucky) and never had so much as a scare.

We used to, and then I got prenant taking the pill perfectly. Now we use a different pill, and spermicidal gel films.

EDIT- NVM OP answered question 🙂

I rely only on my pills and haven’t had any problems. I’m just really militant about taking things on time and make sure I don’t take other medications that would interfere with its effectiveness.

Isn’t that what the pill is for, to have sex? You don’t need a condom or anything, the piill replaces all of that.

Well…I do have several friends who have gotten pregnant while on BC. It’s not a 100% guarantee, but hardly anything is.

@canarydiamond:  The way people quote stats is not really how we should be thinking about them. An easier way to think about it is as a RATE of pregnancies – one in 100 women taking the pill PERFECTLY get pregnant PER YEAR. 1 in 100. Do you know 100 women? It’s actually not that rare. I thought it was really rare until my doctor explained that it’s actually a yearly rate. 1 in 100 women taken over a global population is a TON of unwanted pregnancies per year!

I was on the nuvaring/pill for about a year and a half – no other protection and he would finish inside. No babies here!
