So some guy just came into my office and started telling me that I need to learn Spanish if I want to get a teaching job. I’ll hopefully be finished with my teaching credential and looking for a job teaching English in about a year. I understand the value of speaking Spanish and I really wish I had learned. But now is really not a good time. And I didn’t even ask for his two cents.
I felt like saying to him, “Oh, I didn’t realize that you were that familiar with the job market for ENGLISH TEACHERS!” (The industry I’m in right now has nothing to do with education.)
This is the same guy that came in my office a couple months ago criticizing the way I sit and type, telling me my Carpal Tunnel is going to get worse. But I don’t even have Carpal Tunnel.
What unsolicited advice have you received lately?
