I had my first hair trial a few weeks ago. When I left the salon it seemed ok to me. I wasn’t too happy with the stylist though because she kept saying things like “Oh, we will fix this for the big day, and oh I’ll do this part differently next time”. That didn’t make me happy because I was paying the same amount of money for the trial as I would on the big day and I think it should be done right the first time if you are paying all that money. I called the salon a few days later and said this and they said I should have been more clear that I wanted it to be just like the real thing. Guess I’ll be more upfront next time. I think that seems ridiculous though, if you are paying all that money why do they treat it like it doesn’t matter?
After getting home I looked at my hair more closely and I just thought it seemed kind of messy. And from the front it didn’t look that interesting – just pulled back like a pony tail. The problem is I have naturally curly hair. I told the stylist I wanted to work with my natural curls. She asked me if she could curl some of it with a curling iron and I said “Sure, some of it”. She ended up using the curling iron on all of it to straighten it and then re-curl. This makes my hair look less curly than it naturally is and I wasn’t too happy. It especially contributes to the flat look in the front.
Anyways, some photos are attached. You can see the hair from the front, back, and side where there is a bald spot that I didn’t like at all from her putting too many bobby pins in. After 12 hours the hairstyle was completely falling out and flyaways were all over the place. I can’t have this happen – I’m getting my hair done at 8am on the wedding day and I’d like it to last till midnight!
What do you think? Is this typical of a hair trial? When I tried to call the salon back and tell them I was disappointed they said that “well, you seemed happy when you left” and just said I should come in for another hair trial (another $60+). That’s because I couldn’t really see my hair that well in their mirrors and didn’t get a good chance to look at it until I got home!
I guess I will need to do another trial but I’m worried about this stylist again for next time and don’t know what to do. Am I overreacting?
I’m thinking about leaving some of my hair down next time. Anyone have good photos of half up half down styles? I’m worried this girl won’t know what to do with my curls again. Which is annoying because the salon recommended her to me as the person who works best with curls.
What should I do?
