Is she jealous? Does she feel obligated (in her mind) to pay for anything?

FWIW, my mother is exactly the same way. It’s heartwrenching.

This is so sad! My mom was acting like that when SO and I first got engaged but she came around eventually and is very supportive now. I’m not sure your mom will change her mind or her attitude towards you.

Has your mother always been this way towards you? Especially when something positive happens in your life? Or did this kind of behavior start when you got engaged? Makes me wonder if she likes your Fiance.

Maybe try waiting for her to stop screaming at you and try to let her know how you feel about everything. Give her examples of what she has done because then she won’t be able to claim she is being unsupportive. I know how stubborn mothers can be. Get her some place she can’t runaway from the issue. That is what I would do and have done before with my mother. They eventually stop screaming. But of course each mother is different so maybe that won’t work with her.

I hope she comes around!

@JeanieRae: stop trying to please her and do what makes you happy. if she can’t put her own issues aside for her own daughter, it’s her loss – don’t let her poor attitude ruin your day. if you can’t just let it go ask her what the problem is then you’ll at least have some sort of closure.
