msformaldehyde:  oh no why? Can you post a photo for reference? Sorry to hear your doubts but maybe it’s more like, you just love other rings too and hate to commit? Like most of us here….

Its the perfect shape, IMHO,

Round is boring, square too hard edged/boxy, emerald doesn’t have enough diamond sparkle and I don’t care at all for marquis or heart shape.

My cushion is beautiful, has wonderful sparkle and soft edges, is timeless, elegant, has great style and I just love it.

msformaldehyde:  my sapphire was actually originally a cushion cut, but FI had it modified to an asscher. Honestly, I can’t tell much difference other than it is square and has some asscher-like qualities. If I had known he was going to cut it, I would have told him to just use the cushion as is. He lost about .1 carat by cutting it. He knew I loved asschers but couldn’t find any in the carat he could afford.

If you don’t love yours, you can get it cut. But don’t, because they are so interesting and can work in almost any setting.

I adore cushions!!!  The pillowy shape is so pretty and feminine, imo, and the brillance is great.  And it is not as common.  They are really my fav cut.

msformaldehyde:  Oh my goodness! You’re doubting that gorgeous ring? It’s absolutely delicious. I love it and usually don’t favor halos being an older bee. Maybe you need a RHR eventually with a different shape so you can have the best of both worlds. Why should the rh hand be neglected after all. Hehe

msformaldehyde:  I have a cushion cut as well and will be changing my setting to a halo and I adore it!  My stone isn’t that large (about .63 carat or something), but it shines like crazy and I adore the juxtaposition of the square-ish shape with also some roundess.  Your ring is absolutely beautiful, in my opinion!!

I like the shape of a cushion, but not the cut of a cushion stone. I ended up with an OEC round, with a cushion halo! The best of both worlds. 🙂
