So the boy is only in charge of a few wedding-related things, but one of them was figuring out what kind of a ring he wanted. He came up with an idea that seems like it could be fun---if only I could figure out how to do it!

He wants to get bands and engrave them like an Edison phonograph cylinder (the old metal kind) so that, with the right equipment, they could play music. (Apparently this does exist somewhere in the world, but he is also open to just doing the grooves in a way that they don't actually work, but the idea would still be there, since that may be easier.)

Has anyone gotten or designed wedding bands with custom engraving on the outside? I'm not even sure where to start looking for something like that---local artists? Artists somewhere else who will know what we're talking about?

If anyone has any thoughts, that would be great, since I really don't know where to start on this one. Thanks!!

Maybe try this seller at Etsy. They do custom engraved fingerprints on the outside of rings. There are a few sellers that do this so I'd think they'd be able to do your rings too.

    Good luck!

Thanks---looks like they use a wax mold for this with fingerprints, which just might work for a record too! Good tip. :)

That sounds like a REALLY cool idea! Could you draw out what you're thinking about either on paper or in an illustration program and post an alchemy bid on etsy? I bet someone would bite!

That's also a great idea---I'm still learning the Etsy ropes so I only vaguely know how the Alchemy bids work, but I'll scope it out! Thanks!
