Weddingbee boards

For weddings I have photographed, I've seen a lot of different sources for that type of lighting. 

 Most commonly I've seen places use essentially theatrical lights (look like a big silver can) with a filter for the chosen color placed on top.  If you can't find a vendor that will rent you those lights, you could perhaps ask the location if they have something simlar?

 I have no idea if a theatrical company would rent them out for a reception (they might though).  In the pro audio world, I worked with Clearwing out of Milwaukee and Mainstage - both have been very good for lighting and equipment rentals.

My wedding will be in Milwaukee next Saturday and we booked ACME Lighting for our venue lighting.  Their work is very professional and I was happy with the package price.  So far they have been very easy to work with as well.  If the final product is as good as their service so far, I will be one happy bride!

Let me know if you need any other vendor suggestions.  So far, I believe I have the best team of vendors working for me =)

David, I'm not sure if you are any relation to Paul Hackbarth who owns Sound By Design, but judging by your post I think you might be.  Wedding Bee is a really great resource for those about to get married and it would be a shame to see vendors posing as brides/grooms just to get their name out.

With that said, I actually DID use Sound by Design as my DJ last year for my wedding.  They were everything you were bragging about, my dance floor was packed the entire night!  They actually referred me to ACME Lighting - apparently they were not providing the same services last year.

As an update on ACME Lighting, they too were absolutely wonderful.  My reception venue was gorgeous!

If you really are a groom-to-be, I apologize.  If not, please tone down the advertising in your posts.  Or, at the very least, make it clear that you are representing the company.
