I like your first idea best! It nice and private, and the setting sounds beautiful. Plus, the sooner the better IMO. If you propose the day before valentine’s day, you can celebrate together all weekend! I’m sure whatever you do will be wonderful, though. Congratulations 🙂

@Jones2014:  I love the first idea best! Even if you guys haven’t been there in the snow before, its somewhere you guys go and have been together…so I definitely vote for that!  It will give you guys the privacy and make that spot that much more special when you go back in the spring or summer…or next time you’re there!

I like the first idea as well, especially since its a place you usually go to alot. If you’re worried about her “catching on” to the idea because this isn’t something you usually do, make something up. “so and so are meeting us for dinner, want to walk around the pond while we wait?”

@Jones2014:  I like all your ideas, but (personally) I really love the first one. It just screams romance to me – the snow, the hot drinks, the beautiful setting. . . seriously, I really think your first idea will be a beautiful memory for you both and it will make Valentine’s Day even more special for you guys this year. Smile

@Jones2014:  I absolutely love the first idea!!! I think it would be ok that it isn’t something you would normally do… That’s part of the overall excitement of the moment.  I agree that her having all of valentines weekend to enjoy being engaged would be awesome.. If you wait until the actual day.. she may be thinking you are going to do it then anyway.  I think you will catch her much more off-gaurd by asking the night before!!!

Keep us updated and congrats!!

@Jones2014:  I love your first idea, but I might be a little biased because that was basically my proposal, although mine was actaully on Valentines day. I had a tiny incling that it was MAYBE, POSSIBLY coming because he suggested a walk by the river in the dead of winter, and i can hardly get him to go for a walk with me in the summer. You can always come up with some sort of new “feature” they installed that you want to go check out quickly, or a meteor shower going on that you should “see if you can see it from there”, or something like that. If you think she might question why you want to go for a walk just have a good excuse ready, or let her wonder… because the anticipation and wondering made it more fun for me 🙂

@Jones2014:

The first idea for sure. I think if she was expecting it, it would be ON valentines day. Then you will also have the whole rest of the weekend to enjoy it.

I really like your first Idea, so long as it’s snowing and not raining.  If it’s not something you normally do, but not COMPLETELY out of the norm, then I’d suggest it by acting like you’re super bored… Like “babe… I need OUT of this house!  Wanna grab a coffee and go for a walk by the pond? I bet it’ll be nice with the weather”…. play it off as if it were a random idea…

It would be so beautiful

ooh and what about having flowers already waiting at the gazebo, or something along those lines?  You could have a friend get there ahead of time and put down rose petals or something… or candles… something just a little extra special

@Jones2014:  agree with pp’s — the day before is the best of your choices. GOOD LUCK and update us!! 🙂

I would say the first idea… Maybe have someone else decorate the gazebo with candles and flower pedals before you guys get there.

@Jones2014:  Just want to add, don’t be upset if for some reason you can’t make a proposal happen that specific night. You have two really great ideas that can be your back-up plans if you need them! Smile

Good luck, enjoy yourselves, and let us know how it goes!!!
