wow what an undertaking but Im sure it will be so beautiful and special for that day!
wow it's looking good! I'm in awe of people who can sew this well!
Yay I was waiting for another update! It's so pretty and looks great so far :)
Oh my goodness I am way more excited than I should be about seeing your updates and eventually seeing your finished dress! You and your mom are so talented and that dress is going to be stunning and a half!
WOW! Cannot wait to see the final product!!
I can't believe you've made that! I cannot wait to see the finished dress, looks like it's going to be so lovely!
Have you ever thought about selling and creating wedding dresses?
I love looking at your updates! I'm so excited to see the final product. It looks amazing so far.
So lovely! I wish I had a tenth of the talent you and your mother obviously have! Can't wait to see the finished product!
Your dress is looking Gorgeous!! How special is it that you and your mom can do this together! This is a memory that you will share beyond the wedding. As a mother and a designer, I know I would be so honored to do this with my daughter. I can't wait to see the finished dress!
Wow, I am so impressed! This is going to be beautiful! And of course I love the pink.
Thanks for sharing your updates--I really enjoyed reading them and seeing the pics! (I went back and read your last update, too.) You and your mom must be having so much fun. Can't wait for the next installment.
@LaraW: I would love to design them, but the constructing part would get old, fast! Lol. I already told my mom I hope my daughter isn't as picky/"aesthetically minded" as I am so that we can just buy her a dang dress. : )
Picking out fabrics and lace and stuff was sooo much fun, as was the sketching process. I must have done two dozen+ sketches before I settled on a design.
I also cannot wait to see the finished product - what a great project for you to share with your mother! I love that your dress and engagement ring are pink - I just posted a thread as I'm also considering wearing a blue dress and have an aquamarine engagement ring. I just love seeing the results of out of the box thinking! Your dress looks lovely so far - I can't imagine how excited you must be to get the finished product on!
Thank you everyone for all your encouragement! It really helps power me through the "Okay, rip this seam apart ... again" moments. : )
I LOVE this idea - especially when paired with a very clearly talented mother/daughter team. From what I've seen so far, I imagine this will turn out to be gorgeous! Perhaps a new career will come of this?
Wow, I can see its going to look amazing!!! I can't wait to see the finished product :0)
I am always blown away at the talent on the bee.
I can not wait to see the final product!

Hey Bees!
This is an update to this post.
I went up to my mom's again this weekend and we got SO MUCH DONE! I ended up switching to a modified pattern that I thought would look better, and it worked! We only had to make two revisions of the pattern before we were set to go.
Here's a couple pictures of our "sample dress" which we made using cheap white satin so we could adjust the pattern/make sure it worked:
Here's the lace pieces on the table with the peach charmeuse
- they're so pretty!
Here's a shot of me trying on the bodice (it's unfinished in this photo):
And here's a few more shots of the bodice as we progressed:
So as you can see we went from starting from nearly scratch ---> putting together a mockup ---> getting the bodice entirely constructed except for adding the boning and the zipper, which has to wait until we have the skirt ready to attach as well.
Now I am finishing beading and sewing on my embellishments (the pearl and lace flowers on the bodice), and my mom is going to cut out and sew together the skirts - 2 layers of the peach silk charmeuse, plus who knows how many layers of peach and ivory tulle, all circle skirts.
Next time we meet up we will attach the skirt and the bodice, hem the skirt, and put in the zipper and boning, and she'll be done! I can't wait!
Thanks for looking!
