After about a good solid week of fretting, today I received mid-production pics of the first dress. I was pretty surprised to get these already–I wasn’t expecting them for another couple weeks at least.
I will say the color is brighter than I would have liked, but it really doesn’t bother me so THAT bad. Besides, I am not entirely sure what can be done about it at this point.
I can tell the quaiity of work is really good, which sets my mind at ease. I don’t know that I care for the sleeve area, but I think maybe that is just the result of taking a very tiny dress and trying to adjust it to a plus-size. I am thinking of either having them make it more of a substantial sleeve, or just converting it to a halter.
I am still a little worried it will be too short. And I’m worried about the color, and how well it will play with the color of my dress.
But it’s nice to see this pic and know that if there *is* an issue and the dresses can’t be worn, it won’t be an issue with the craftsmanship of the dress.
Aside from the top/sleeve area, what do you think?

@EffieTrinket: Well I love them. I would exactly say “THAT is mint green!” and I like the cap sleeves. Adorable. Looks about an inch above knee length to me. Do you have a pic of your dress? I don’t remember if I’ve seen it.

I’m so happy to see these turned out! I love them!! So different and unique. Now I’m excited to see picture of your wedding!!

The sleeve/back doesn’t bother me at all, but I don’t like how the sleeve piece sort of drapes in the front. I’d rather see it come straight from the top of the dress or a halter. The craftmanship does look nice though!

They should be able to adjust the dress form to a height. Maybe you can ask them for a pic of that straight on with a yard stick up next to it on the ground just to check the length. I like the sleeves.

@jadlnc: Here’s my dress. It sort of led to my decision to go with the 50s style dresses, since my dress is basically Grace Kelly’s dress, and she married in 1956.

And here is the inspiration dress.

@EffieTrinket: Holy wow, that is a gorgeous dress. The more I scroll between the two dresses the more I like them together. I see the waist of your dress in the horizontal ruching on the BM dress. And the bell shape of the skirt mirrors yours. I think you’ll feel better when you see them all together. 🙂
ETA: The only difference I see between the inspiration BM dress and the actual (besides the color) is that the skirt is a lot fuller in the actual dress. I wonder if they could minus one layer… Also, I don’t see anything shiny on the actual BM dress. So you’re good in that department.

I like the mid production pics of the dress better than the inspiration pic. I think it looks very nice 🙂 I don’t think it’ll be too short. I like it!!!

@EffieTrinket: I’m guessing the inspiration is between ankle and tea length? If that’s the case, I think the length of the dress should be okay. As for the color, I think it’s fun! It looks like it should match your dress nicely.

@EffieTrinket: Very pretty dress. I love the neckline and the cap sleeve.
The skirt is twice the length of the bodice if that helps you guess the length at all. You can measure your own shoulder to waist then multiply a 2 to get an approximate idea of the length of the skirt.

I think they came out beautiful! After your last post, I was thinking that your dresses might turn out ultra-shiny, but these are romantic and lovely! Yay!
PS: Your gown is absolutely stunning…I think it’s one of the prettiest dresses on the Bee!

@EffieTrinket: i didn’t like the dress at first, then when I saw it next to yours, then I got the whole vision and its nice. they compliment eachother very well.

@EffieTrinket: I think the color is great, and the BM dress is very 50s- A line, full skirt, etc. if I was your BM, I would not want to have the cap sleeves though. I realize its very 50s and pretty popular right now, but I think cap sleeves only look good on 2% of the population with really toned arms. I think it wouldnt look good on the plus size girls, but I don’t think it would look good on me and I’m a size 2-4! If your plus size BMs want sleeves, I would do that. I also think the halter would look great on that dress!
Also wanted to say that your wedding dress is GORGEOUS!! So classy, elegant, and timeless!

@EffieTrinket: I actually think the mid production picks look great! They seem a little shorter but I love them
