Well, since people seem so interested in the previos thread, and since it was so long, here is a new updated article from earlier today from LA Times.
They released the name of the molestor and it has offically been declared a “homicide” investigation. There will still be a grand jury hearing soon to determin exactly what charges may come against the father.
ETA: I posted this a little further down but since lots of people just read to OP:
Well, apperntly homicide is just the offical investigation that one person killed another. So it isn’t being investigated as an accident or suicide basiclly it sounds like.
Under “homicide” there is 1st and 2nd degree MURDER and involuntary and voluntary manslaughter. So he hasn’t been offically charged with anything yet, from what I can see it is likely he will be charged will voluntary manslaughter, he didn’t pre-meditate and plan to kill the man, but he still directly caused a death. According to a law website I found it says:
“Voluntary manslaughter. This is often called a “heat of passion” crime. Voluntary manslaughter arises when a person is suddenly provoked (in circumstances which are likely to provoke many reasonable people) and kills in the heat of passion aroused by that provocation. That the killing is not considered first or second degree murder is a concession to human weakness. Killers who act in the heat of passion may kill intentionally, but the emotional context prevents them from having the ability to fully control their behavior. As a result, the heat of passion reduces their moral blameworthiness.”
