Okay bees. So I lightened the lip color a bit, added a bit more shimmer to the inside corners, did a better job with the eyeliner (I think), added some more eyeshadow and did more with my eyelashes. I tried falsies...it was a major fail. Haven't gone to the MAC counter yet to have them teach me. BUT, what do you guys think now??
ALSO - much better lighting and picture quality this time. :) haha.
Oh, here's a link to the OP. The picture quality is drastically different though (we're talking camera phone to Nikon D3100. Lol.) http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/diy-makeup-thoughts-tips
It's beautiful--you're beautiful! I would try the falsies, if you can get them to work well, just to get that extra pop on your eyes for your big day. Ardel makes a strip lash set called demi something, I love them. Just make sure you use Duo lash adhesive--the other stuff is too hard to get off and Duo is awesome at holding, dries clear, is flexible and is all MAC uses. Also, are you wearing a lip liner? I would use a light one, like Whirl by Mac, with the gloss. It will help hold your gloss longer, and give you a nice, full lip without looking too "liner-y." The color of the lip gloss and blush is perfection btw :)
OMG it's perfect!!! You did such a good job!
I think it looks beautiful! Did you happen to take a picture looking down so we could see how the eyeshadows look?
BTW, I'm suuuuupah jealous of your eyelashes.
You look stunning!! Also I'm so jealous that you can do makeup so well! I can hardly put eyeliner on, so I'll definitely have to call in the pros. I love this makeup trial! Looks perfect.
Holy crap, you look awesome! You have such gorgeous eyes! I think falsies would give you a bit more pop if you can get them to cooperate, but damn you look beautiful!
@eryepye: Aw thanks. :) I've never even bought lip liner, but I'll sure give it a try! :) I'm going to attempt falsies *sigh* but I'm scared of them. haha.
@natbug21: Thanks! I really like it.
@CarolinaCola: I forgot! :( Fail! haha. But I added 2 more colors to the mix - the lighter shade and then a medium one. And lol, thanks. They are pretty awesome. Would you be stunned to know that my brothers are better? Yeah. Men. Lol.
@Ms.GoodEarth: Lol, thanks. It's taken...a lot of practice. Especially the eyeliner and eyeshadow parts! Never knew it was such an art. And thank you. :)
@Aure: Wow, thanks! *blush* I'm going to give the falsies another try - AFTER I learn that from the pros, of course. I ended up like, "Omg, stop sticking to meeeeee" today. haha
You guys made me blush!! (Whenever I say that...I think "You guys made me ink!" from Finding Nemo.) :p
@AmeliaBedelia: Ugh! Isn't that always how it goes?? Men get the best lashes! My FI has like perfectly curled lashes 24/7 and I wanna punch him. Haha. I told him when he dies I'm taking his lashes. Hah! I kid.
Annnnyway, back to the point of your post. The makeup is beautifulness! And I know everyone is saying falsies, but I don't think you need them. I have a book by Bobbi Brown and it has a section on bridal makeup and it says not to wear false eyelashes on your wedding day unless you're 100% sure how to apply them and 200% sure they'll stay on. Not saying you're not capable of applying them, but you seem super hesitant about it, and I completely understand. I hate wrestling (I totally almost typed "wrastling" right there) with false lashes.
It looks great! I agree that falsies are a really fun way for a little "pop." I also liked the brighter lipstick a bit better. But, perhaps a good lipliner would help define them a bit more.
You have really great features!

You're so beautiful and this makeup is perfect! Some PPs are suggesting false eyelashes but I think you don't need them -- your lashes are long and gorgeous as is. If you DID do falsies, go with a few individual splays placed only at the outer corners. Full strips can look a bit too theatrical.
I also agree with @eryepye: that you might want to try a soft lipliner just so you won't have to touch up your lips too often througout the day. Completely fill in your lips with it, like you would with a lipstick, rather than just doing an outline of your lips. Then top with your gloss for long-lasting lip color. :)
Looks great!!! your eyelashes are seriously long without falsies (I'm so jealous over here) As far as falsies go, I like to use just the ones CVS/Walgreens sells, but the individidual lashes instead of the strips. I use the medium ones and then just hold the lash (base side up) with a tweezer, apply a pindrop of glue to the tip then apply to my lash and hold it there for about 10 seconds. This would look really cool for you especially just at the outer edge of your eye. I think this would add that "pop" you're looking. I used this brand on my wedding day and thought it turned out great. I've got pics if you want to see. Good Luck!!
@AmeliaBedelia: You look beautiful! Such a romantic look! You might consider just adding individual eyelash pieces to the outside corner of your upper lids as opposed to an entire strip of lashes. My makeup artist did this and it was just enough pop for the camera but still very natural looking. Your lashes are really lovely on their own so I don't think you need a full strip of lashes. Just adding to the outside corner of the upper lids will enhance the cat's eye look you're already achieving with your liner/shadow/mascara, lengthening the look of your eyes from side to side.
@knight.keira:@mrscheetos:@pinkshoes:@Pappy8:@Heatherloveskenny: Thank you all! I really like it too.
@Cornflakegirl: & @Kalamaz17: & @robotpolkadot: That is a good idea bees - and sounds so much less scary! I was really afraid of the "line" because it was just strange looking on my eyelids. I think the individuals also give you a bit more room to decide where you want/need them. Thanks!!
@SutSip: Hmm, I've never used lipliner before. I'll definitely have to go take a look at some tutorials and some different ones. So it makes it last longer? And thanks!
@CarolinaCola: YES! They are seriously amazing. Always have been. Jerky guys!! haha. We have to WORK on ours. Lol. That sounds about right, haha, I'm scared of those things! And terrible at them apparently. I think I'm going to take some of the above advice and try the individual ones and see if I like that better. :)
love the lighter lip color but I second the need for a neutral lip liner (you wont regret it as long as the color is not noticeable), I would also say I still think you need more defined eyeshadow. I too am doing DIY makeup and I am scared of falsies but Im going to practice a lot! Good Luck and keep us updated!
Oh! Also, I swear by a finishing spray called Model in a Bottle. You can order it from Amazon and it's incredible! I wore it on my wedding day and didn't have to touch up a single thing once. I've tried other sprays, including the one by MAC, but Model in a Bottle wins hands down. My MUA friend who is a long distance runner tested it once by applying makeup and then spraying it on half of her face. When she finished her run, the side without the spray had melted from sweat- the side with the spray didn't budge.
@MissPumpkinPie:& @Dandelion D: Thank you!!
@Juliepants: ;) Thanks lady. ;) *insert cheesy strip club music*
@cwat12: Yeah I wish I'd thought of them earlier! With just 3-ish weeks to go (holy crap, what in the heck??) I'm not sure I'll get enough practice in.
@eryepye: I know I'm a dork, but what is finishing spray? I'm guessing it keeps makeup in place (duh). It's not shiny or anything is it??
It's something that sets your makeup, kind of like hairspray for your face, so it doesn't budge. Really a must have for a long day full of potential sweat and tears, as well as hours and hours of makeup wear by the time your wedding is over. And no, it isn't shiny :)
@eryepye: So I'm looking it up right now and there seems to be different kinds. What "type" is yours? Is it just called the Setting Spray or is it one of the others?
@abby_mb: Thank you!!
@suzieq80: Thank you!!
This one :)
When you spray it--hold it about 12 inches from your face, close your eyes and hold your breath. Spray 3-5 times, making sure to get both sides and the center of your face. Wait a few seconds with your eyes closed for it to dry and you're set! Try it out before the wedding--you'll see how great you still look at the end of the day.
@AmeliaBedelia: No problem! Just get any of them that say "original." I hope you like it!
You're gorgeous!! I think you did a great job- I agree with another poster who suggested lipliner. And although you already have great lashes, I think it's worth it to do the falsies.
I used to be SO scared by them too, but they aren't that hard. Use good products. I apply glue to the lashes with my tweezer and then let it dry a bit until it's gummy, then I stick them to my eyes.
Good luck!
@eryepye: Just ordered it! Now I can wait in anticipation. :p
@Evie19: Thank you! I swear it's just the angle, lol. I feel much less pretty in most pictures. I'm still going to look into some individual false lashes, probably this week! I do have some spots that could use a bit of a "fill in" if possible. :)
@AmeliaBedelia: It's not the angle, you are beautiful! Own it! :)
The good think about individual flash lashes is that even in the worst case scenario that they fall out...no one will notice, because the effect is very natural. It won't be like the ones that are one long strip peeling upward at the sides...lol.
@Evie19: Haha! Oh but it is! I do feel pretty in the picture, and IRL I feel pretty some days, but yeah. This angle has nicely allowed my double-chin to escape! haha! I'll be telling my photog of this. ;)
And that is an excellent point! Some of my hesitation was, "Omg, when I cry, will I have all kinds of a hot mess on my face?" <-- Because...I know I'll cry. I cried WRITING my vows, much less saying them.
@AmeliaBedelia: Well, for sure you need waterproof everything! I admire anyone who says vows...very brave! But I'm sure you'll do great. And the emotion that day will be what makes it all so special. :)
@Evie19: Haha. Yes! Waterproof everything is definitely necessary. I'll still manage to need a touchup. Lol.
@Honey Bunch: Thank you :)
