We are planning from a far. Live in Boston, getting married in Chicago.
We are going to Chicago twice in Dec (8-10, and then will be there the week between Xmas and NYE). ist trip we are meeting with photographers and planners. Christmas trip we are doing site visits with 11 venues. Then I plan to go back twice in 2012 to take care of other vendors.
In a city venues book up so quickly that I am glad to have the extra time> Hope to have a venue picked and photographer and planner booked by 1st week in January when we return.
We also booked our venue, picked out colors and I actually bought my wedding dress (crazy I know). Over winter break when FI is in the area, we are planning on meeting with photographers and bands to hopefully make decisions about those. Since we're on a holiday weekend in a very tourist-y area, I just want to get things settled and booked!
@ anchorsaway... My dress will be bought by thanksgiving If I have my way. lol
Venue is booked. We're doing bridesmaid dresses in December along with meeting with the cake lady. We're penciled in (not inked in) with the Caterer and DJ. It's all a matter of sending them the deposit checks. Also, went and looked at linens.(WHY on earth are those things so expensive just to rent. jeebus.)
Colors, flowers, centerpieces, favors are all choosen. Working on a little binder of exactly what I want so that I can just show people when they give me that "What is this crazy lady talking about" look.
I've decided on a riverboat cruise for the reception. 80 guests. We haven't booked because it's still too early but hopefully by december we will!
We just decided on our venue - we're getting married at a kids summer camp (Camp Chingachgook) on Lake George! There is a beautiful open air pavillion by the water that we'll use for the reception and the ceremony is going to be just off to the side on a little outcropping of land. It's perfect - and SO budget friendly!
We wanted to have a lot of time to hang out with our guests and a lot of time to dance/party so we decided to have 2 parties (essentially!). We're going to get married at 3 at the camp with an afternoon "garden party" wedding reception. The vibe will be more of a fancy picnic so we can hang out and talk to everyone. When it gets dark we're going to light a bonfire and make smores. Then we're going to head into the town nearby (about 10 minutes away) for the second party - which be out favorite band playing a concert at a local bar.
We're so excited!! If anyone is doing a rustic feel to their wedding - let me know! We might be able to share materials...
We've book our venue for the ceremony and reception (Salvage One in Chicago), finalized our date and put down the deposit, figured out our budget, started saving up, gotten proposals from caterers, and asked the wedding party and Master of Ceremony to be in our wedding. So far, so good. Besides our family wanting us to do it cheaper or closer to their respective homes, it's been pretty drama free and easy!
I have my dress, We have our STD, and we are doing a destination wedding. Nicaragua. I picked out my colors, working on our website (google weddings) We decided on our venue and we are going to Nicaragua September 2012.
We have our venue booked so that takes care of the caterer, D.O.C, chair/table rentals, linens, dinnerware, drinks/alcohol, set up and tear down.
We have picked our colors. I have a dress. We have an officiant(his grandfather)
We have a DJ(his Uncle use to DJ and is friends with a local DJ who owns his own business so aunt/uncle are paying for that as a gift) So through him we'll have DJ and lighting. We have a videographer(close friend who does it for a living)
We're trying to win a contest for a photographer so if we win that we'll have the photographer taken care of. If not we have a few photographers we're looking in to and we'll contact them in the next couple of months.
We still have 16 months to go but I feel like we already have so much taken care of.
I think we have decided on a venue, I'm still negotiating with them right now. I got a quick e-mail from her today saying that she will be out of the office and send me a proposal on Tues, but that she thinks I'm going to love the package that she's coming up with for me. So hopefully I'll be able to put down a deposit soon! The venue will include everything, which is exactly what we wanted. Once we put down the deposit we'll go down later for a food tasting and pick out our linens.
@laurenlisa721: Your Wedding sounda amazing so far!! I too am looking for something rustic and Upstate, though neither of us are from the ADK area. I haven't done much as far as planning goes since I'm jsut trying to settle on a venue. Did you come across any other ideas besides the camp (though that does look up my alley)? Also, any other suggestions you have?

So I know all of us are already way ahead by having 23 months (who's counting!) to go...but I was wondering where you are all in your planning? Fall 2013 Brides....what have you done/are planning on doing?
Are you going to plan during the holidays??? or will Vendors be super busy with Holiday parties etc?
I've booked the venue and made a binder with all the things I like/don't like...colors...dresses...etc but that's about as far as I've gotten.
Where are you guys at!?
