@ducky244:  Some of the colors are a bit oversaturated for my taste, but they are much much better than the last one you posted. They do a really great job of capturing emotions. I would go with them if you like them in person.

@ducky244:  A lot of really good photographers are independent, and they just get a pro photog friend who’s free that day to come shoot the wedding with them. Don’t be afraid of them- if they’re able to get enough business on their own, they’re probably okay!

I think your choice is better than your FI’s, though (but they’re not a terrible choice if your choice isn’t free). I’m not blown away by the full albums I’m seeing from Mc Conville, they look a little too posed and the candids aren’t awesome. I have a feeling, and I could be wrong, that they chose those albums because the people in them were comfortable in front of the camera and pulled off posed okay- if you’re not used to being photographed all the time, your pictures might come out really stiff and awkward with that style. It’s not something I would risk.

@ducky244:  I like yours better than your FI’s too. His stuff is pretty posey and the people look kinda stiff in some of the pictures. He also over-blows his whites in his black and white shots so you lose detail. Dress blends into sidewalk, hair blends into tree and into sky; I’m not a fan of that style. I was really impressed by all of the emotions captured by Sprung, so I still vote for them.

My photographer is independent and his second shooter is either an associate, his son, or his wife. We’ll most likely have his son at our wedding which is great because his son loves to do detail shots while our photographer really likes to focus on people and emotions.

My photographer might also be an option for you as you are on the north end of Chicago. He’s Milwaukee area, but I know he’s traveled to Madison, and Chicago is about the same distance away.

@ducky244:  I like how he catches people’s expressions…the photos are honest and beautiful, I love that.
