I made a post about my friend asking how to best support her emotionally through her stress of raising a baby alone. She is waiting on getting daycare assistance and can’t get a job until she gets it. In the meantime, she is staying on her friend’s sofa. Otterhalf wanted to help and suggested Ashley make a registry. Ashley made a Walmart registry and you Bees got her $800 in items and gift cards! Yes, you guys did that! For a stranger and her baby!
Ashley can now move out of her friend’s living room bc of everything she got from you Bees. Before she got help, her plan had been to stay on her friend’s couch until she got daycare and could get a job. She gets $400 a month in cash assistance and can pay to rent a room. She would have had to use all of that for items for Gabe, gas and pitching in where she lives. She is so excited and wouldn’t be able to do this if she hadn’t gotten help from the wonderful people on this site. She will get daycare in the next weeks and will be able to get a job. Thanks so much!

@bunnyharriet: $800!?!?! That’s fantastic! I’m so glad she’s able to take a step forward and find work. It’s amazing what a few random acts of kindness can do for a person. *warm fuzzies*

She called me today and told me about diapers and wipes that arrived at the apt. She was so psyched. Then she said, “Know what I realized last night? Now that I won’t have to spend everything on things I need, I can afford to live somewhere else. I haven’t had a bedroom in months and Gabe has never had a bedroom!” She was SO excited! It’s so weird that a few days ago she was crying on the phone and was so stuck and now she is apartment hunting! You all made such a huge difference in her life. Who could have known this would be the outcome? She is getting about $500 in a few days from a tax return. Before the help, she had planned on buying a stroller, a highchair, diapers, wipes, bottles, some new bras and underwear for herself, an oil change, and several other things she needed. It was all spent. Now she can use it to move into an apartment and have her own room again (with a tiny, loud, cute roommate lol). You all rock! You didn’t just help her tread water. You have all helped her move forward in a big way!

Lol, it is. It’s on walmart.com, Ashley Gray, zip code 03038. She has alreayd had so much help but single mothers xould always use more help. Thanks for asking.
I know! She added it all up and was like,”Omg! This is crazy! I cannot believe they did this for me and Gabe!” She got more help from a group of caring strangers than she got for her baby shower plus what she’s gotten from the father (a small pack of diapers and a lot of broken promises).
