Hello, Bees! For those of you who saw my previous thread, I was hesitating about buying an engagment ring online. At the time, I was very interested in moissanite and I was trying to decide whether or not ordering a ring from Rosado’s Box or Moissanite Co was the right choice for me. I was really set on having all of my e-ring research done as quickly as possible so that it would be crossed off the list before my SO, James, proposed. Fortunately, I think I have everything figured out!
Before I go into further detail, I just want to give a huge shout out to Miss Marple for all of her amazing and incredibly detailed help on this little project. I would not have been able to come to a decision without her!! You are the BEST!
Anyway, I have officially decided that the ring I would like is a simple, six-prong solitaire featuring an Amora Gem! For those of you who are unfamiliar with this stone, as I once was, there is a ton of information on the Better Than Diamond website that really helped me lock in my decision. All of the videos of this gem were just amazing to me! It’s got stunning fire and brilliance. I think that the Amora Gem will provide me with the “look” I fell in love with when James and I went ring shopping for the first time. I tried on an $18,000 2ct flawless round brilliant solitaire and it was just perfect. $18k is a bit out of our range (along with other ethical/eco conflicts) so the Amora Gem is a great alternative! I don’t plan on “passing” my ring off as a diamond and I won’t hesitate to explain to those who ask that my gem is lab-created but, boy, does it look like a diamond! I’m confident that, unlike moissanite, this stone won’t be showing any of the warmth I was hesitant about in the first place.
I have sent James my final email — per the Shut It Up Pact, all ring-talk has been restricted to electronic communication so I don’t drive him too cray 😉 — with the link to the setting I would like and the 4C specs I would like the gem to have. I am a super-planner-excel-spreadsheet-detailed-outline kinda girl so I made sure to include every detail under the sun about my dream ring. We will most likely make the purchase together as I’d like to “split” the cost (it’s all the same money, but I don’t want him to feel pressured to spend that much on something that is a team-decision), but you never know! He has all the information he needs to make the whole thing a complete surpirse. It’s hard for me to admit, as I typically hate surprises, but this is one surprise I don’t think I’d sweat too much. 🙂
Behold! The Timeless Regal Reproduction from Better Than Diamond! Link to more pictures of the setting https://betterthandiamond.com/products/Timeless-Regal-Reproduction.html/
I think the “surprise diamond” underneath the center stone is a little silly as I’ll never see it, but I can’t complain. This ring has everything I’ve been looking for — ~2mm band, six-prongs, and no other stone accents. I have also requested that the mounting be made in palladium as I like the look of platinum over white gold, but I don’t so much like the price tag.
What does everyone think? Is this a good choice!? If you have an Amora Gem, please post your photos in this thread! I can’t get enough of the pictures and videos of this amazing stone. And let the countdown to January continue!
