When I last posted my invites there was the conundrum of the flower and whether it really worked:
I made the mistake of focussing so much on what I wanted and should have just waited to get the final say from mum and dad. Which was …. *crickets*. Dad “couldn’t condone” (verbatim) the flower and mum said it looked “Asian” … at which point I ended skype because I was just so angry at what I saw as a pretty bad racist slur, where do they come up with these things?! I still haven’t quite gotten over that comment and I can’t figure out where she was coming from, that’s unlike her.
Anyway, thus began almost a total redesign. Well not quite, but it felt like it. Fortunately I was able to download the font and play with the wording because I swear there were about 25 texts back and forth from my mum with the most teensy changes to things like capitalisation, punctuation etc.
So this is what we have now!
First of all… here’s the lace I’m wearing
Look at the pattern she drew for the back! I’ve edited this a bit myself to drop the opacity and at mum’s suggestion, extend it onto the front cover, although I think it will need to come across a bit further.
And the inside!
What do you think??!!

It looks lovely! I love how it matches your lace! 🙂

Much, much better than the previous attempt.

It looks much more put together!

Thanks everyone! Glad you think it’s an improvement 🙂 I liked the other one but having had these changes made… I love this a million times more 🙂 and I was shocked when mum said she liked it and thought it looked really classy… because we’ve really been at odds over the invites from the beginning. Seems like we’re finally both happy!
@Feist: the font is called Good Vibrations. I downloaded a basic free version… The only problem being I wasn’t able to use bold 🙁

@goingtotherooftopoflove: I really like how they turned out. Less girly, more elegant.
That’s such a great idea with the lace pattern.
Maybe you can use the floral design on something else? maybe the cover of your guestbook or something (or an idea just from another thread…maybe print the floral desing on canvas and use that as guestbook)

@Kili: Mum keeps babbling about using the floral lace pattern everywhere 😉 haha. As in, we’ve changed the envelope label design to include it. We’re putting it on the chocolate bar favours that will double as name places. I’m sure it will end up elsewhere as well! I’m just so glad/giddy to finally get some excitement from her over something wedding related. Our stationer did good, even if it took a wee while to get there 😉
