Some may remember my post from October when I went to try my dress on when it came in. I am quite pear shaped with a small waist and have bad body image issues about this so at the time was quite concerned about how my hips/thighs looked in it. I’ve since bought some shapewear (bike short type) to help with smoothing me out. I’ve also lost a few more inches off my hips since then.
I went today for my first alterations fitting. I did feel better in the dress. The alterations lady was really nice and said the dress really works on my figure and it’s the best she’s seen it look but I still really struggle with my appearance in it. I really hope on my wedding day that I can feel confident and I don’t look back on my photos with shame at how I look. I’m not putting this thread up fishing for compliments – I know I’m not ‘big’ anymore. But I need to find a way to learn to like how I look, or at least let it go. I’m sure if it was someone else in these pictures I would think they look great so I want to feel that way too! I do really like how it looks from the back, maybe I should have all my pictures taken from that angle, haha. i probably should have chosen a different dress that does not show ‘everything’ so I had less to nitpick at.
It’s pulling weird across the torso in the pic because it was pinned where it needs to be taken in.

It’s beautiful! I just checked out the original post and definiely think its more flattering now. I think some sort of shapewear is essential with such a delicate fabric, you totally rock that dress!

Seriously, girl. you have just the right amount of curves – and in the right places – for that dress. I don’t think it would flow as well if you didn’t have hips.
I think saddlebags is such a stupid word as well. IMHo, thighs look better with a bit of extra in that area – it’s like they give you a natural mermaid effect and make your waist look even tinier. And look at that flat stomach.
You look absolutely sensatonal and I’m sure your Fiance will be thrilled!

@Lollybags: You look gorgeous. Seriously. I think your anxieties are stemming from your long-held self-image, and not from what you’re seeing in the mirror today. We all have our little body things that we’re self-conscious about, but in this case, that thing is no longer even noticeable to an outside observer. Your hips look great and you have the perfect figure for that beautiful dress.
If you had just posted this picture and asked what body type the person in it has, I might have said hourglass- I would never have said pear.
