Thanks for updating this -- fun!
We still have NO IDEA what we're doing. We're going to crack down on the planning after Christmas. I think Costa Rica is out, and we're looking at the following ideas:
Anguilla/St. Maarten
Belize
St. Lucia
Antigua/Barbuda
Would love to hear what everyone else is doing :o)
We have no idea what to do! The FI doesn't really like the typical beachy honeymoon, so I've been trying to research some cool places that we'd both like. Some possibilities on our list:
Vancouver, B.C.
Whidbey Island, Washington
Tofino, B.C.
Jackson Hole, Wyoming
Sedona, AZ
Santa Fe, New Mexico
We have also strongly been considering Mexico...but I am worried about going there in June/July. I have read it's just so hot, buggy, and humid.
I need some better ideas!
We decided to scrap the 14-day Mediterranean cruise and stay somewhat local (within New England). We're going to need a low key vacation to recoop.
We booked our trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Our second choice was Hawaii, but I liked the look of the hotel better in Cabo and I didn't really feel like flying all the way out to Hawaii.
We were going to go to Italy but with both of us in school it just isn't practical for a few reasons. I have never been to Europe and was a little disappointed that we would have to wait another year before we go and meet his family in Italy sooo....sweet FI booked 5 nights in Quebec City. He had been told by a few people that Quebec city resembles Europe so he made reservations at the Le Clos Saint-Louis. He got us the honeymoon package and I am soooo excited!
@Hotchild: why did you scrap Costa Rica? That has been our #1 for a long time, especially when our friends told us how much they enjoyed Recreo in September....but, we're now reconsidering as well!!!
Hi,
I was orginally thinking Hawaii , but now we are set on Spain. We have 10 days and we're going to try to do 4 days in Marbella and 6 days in and around barcelona.
we are still going to costa rica!! yay! I am so excited! @mizrunzou I heard about Recreo.. nice to hear your friends had such a great experience there. They mentioned them on the Today Show, that is how we originally decided on Costa Rica.. FI saw it and said oh that's nice and then I made him commit!! lol lol he doesn't like to travel as much as I do so when he committed to Costa Rica I had to jump on the opportunity LOL LOL
@mizrunzou: A few reasons. For one thing, it is their rainy season, and although I've heard conflicting opinions on how much/often it rains, I really don't want to chance it. Also, from what I've heard and what we gained from our research, it seems like it just takes a really long time to get everywhere via car. I REALLY don't like riding in cars, so this would kinda put a damper on our honeymoon. Finally, we found out that you really can't snorkel there and that's something we really want to do!
So we definitely want to do it someday, but I don't think it's the best choice for our honeymoon.
I"m still waiting for FI to give some solid input besides saying 'no' to everything! It's really hard to decide when you're paying for it out of pocket..
And to what Hotchild said about the rain, we really don't want to chance any location that might have bad weather. Spend all day traveling, thousands of dollars on hotels, flights, meals, etc. and get rained out. Not cool.
We went ahead and booked Costa Rica in June...my fingers are crossed that it doesn't rain too much!!!
We're going to Saint Lucia. GORGEOUS island, great SCUBA, surprisingly affordable plane tickets. So excited!
I used to live in the Caribbean, and to those of you worried about the heat/mugginess...as long as you're at a resort beach-side, the ocean breeze really makes it tolerable. When you're inland is when it gets unbearable, but I plan on spending a lot of time by the beach (or in our room) during the HM =)
We booked our HM last month. We are going to Hawaii! We are doing 4 days in oahu, 6 days in Maui. YAY!
Thought I would resurrect this post since June is only a few months away :o)
FI and I booked our honeymoon over the weekend -- we're spending 8 nights/9 days in Anguilla. So excited!
We were suprised by his brothers and sister with a honeymoon a few weeks ago. They told us they were going to find us someplace warm, with a beach and all inclusive and we would need out passports. They said the Bahamas...then once it was finalised it ended up being Marival Resort and Suites In Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico. We are now hunting up all the things we would like to do while we are there so we can plan ahead a little! I'm thinking Zipline Canopy tour and swimming with dolphins since who knows when we will have the chance again! Trying to see what we have to do to get a honeymoon package added to what they have already bought!
We are just going to hop over to Orlando for a couple of nights. It will be really cheap and easy.

Hey Ladies, looks like a lot of us have changed our minds about honeymoon destinations for our June weddings since Hotchild's original post:
http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/june-brides-where-are-you-going-on-your-honeymoon-1
For example, I originally said Europe, then I think Hawaii and now we are seriously considering Mexico!
Has anyone booked the trip yet? Close to booking? Where are you going and why?
