Okay so after asking everyone’s opinions on whether or not to add sleeves to my gown and most saying go for it, I found out today that I can’t! 🙁 BOO HOOO. Apparently my dress just isn’t made for them and there is no room to attach and still give me ANY arm movement. I’m so bummed so I had to move on to other options.
First let me prepare you for my pics…my dress does not look very good in these pics. First, NOT steamed so it’s kind of a mess and second, the lighting was bad so in attempt to fix my pics I made the dress look ultry shiny but wanted the detail to show through. It is taffeta so yes it is naturally shiny
On to the sleeves…the consultant suggested a bolero and I told her I wasn’t a fan. She brought me this lace one and my bridesmaids relally liked it. Me…not so much. It was okay but I just felt it really changed the look of the dress.
Then we ditched the bolero for a veil. Funny I nevre liked myself in a veil either. I did however like this one and I felt a bit more comfortable as it did diisguise my arms a bit . We all agreed the veil was the way to go. Then I came home and looked at my pics and guess what? I actually like the pics of the bolero better. UGGGH. HELP!
First pic, bolero….second pic…veil…third pic how I HOPE I will look in my dress AFTER I lose the weight needed. I’m really not happy with how my dress looks on me in my current state. I also discovered I really don’t like my hair up, it makes me look very broad. I really welcome people’s opinions here (minus the shiny dress comments 🙂
Here’s how I HOPE it will fit once I have alterations (dress is too big on me right now) and once I lose ALOT of weight 🙂

I wasn’t sure how I felt about it. So I turned the laptop to Darling Husband and said what do you think? He said the details in the bolero compete with the details in the dress. Then he said she has really nice shoulders and I bet her Fiance loves them. She has no need to hide them.
I had to tell you because I thought, wow he’s probably right LOL

I have to say that I agree with you: I prefer the bolero to the veil. It just looks more elegant to me. It’s great!

I think the dress looks great on you! You don’t need to hide anything 🙂

I agree with everyone who says you don’t have to hide anything! You look great in that dress!!

As beautiful as the bolero is, I think it’s a bit much for your gorgeous gown. If you feel that you’ll be more comfortable wearing something over your arms (which look FINE by the way), have you considered a sheer shrug/wrap? Something like these:

I think the bolero is beautiful on you and really looks nice with the dress.

LOVE the bolero with your dress!

Hi – my two cents – Your dress is beautiful and I think it looks great on you without having to add the bolero. Although the bolero itself looks very elegent, I just think your dress looks good without it. It sounds like you are worried about how your shoulders/arm look? If so, maybe instead of covering it up, as another option, wear your hair down (as you had suggested yourself) and wear a necklace with some bling on it….to draw attention and focus away from the arms/shoulders…just thinking out loud. Good luck with whatever you decide to go with. 🙂

i really really like the bolero. and not because you want it to cover up! i think it really suits the dress!
i dont really rate the veil too much though. i like your hair down! maybe you could have your hair down with the veil? (only if you wanted the veil).
I really like hair down so i am biased! lol i have short hair and envy ppl with longer hair.. lol
but its what you like the most! and usually we know what we like, we just need a little push!
so wear what you really want to wear!
OR put in to a hat a piece of paper saying veil, and another saying bolero.. and if you pull out either and are dissapointed with what you got then you know you wanted the other.. and if your happy then you made the right decision! lol

I love the bolero! As other Bees mentioned, if you think it’s too much (personally, I don’t but…) why not try a similar bolero with less embellishments? You have a very pretty figure, so I’d also like to add that you look great without the bolero, too!

I agree with those who’ve already said that you don’t really need to cover anything up. I say go with the veil!

I like the bolero, but I think it takes away from your dress and puts too much emphasis on your shoulders and makes you look broader… I would go with the veil as I think it looks very soft and pretty.

I don’t love the veil or the bolero. I think your dress is beautiful, and so are you. I don’t see anything wrong with your arms.
And besides, I’ve never heard of anyone sitting around at a reception going “OMG did you see the bride’s arms. She has wings.” NO I didnt think so!
You are self conscious about your arms, I can understand that. (I am too.) But on your wedding day you will be stunning, and probably not even think about how your arms look.
Please take into consideration that my opinon comes from being a plus size woman (street size 18/20), and wanting to feed all models a sandwich (or 10).

I think you look great in that dress! It is gorgeous! I also think you look great in the dress with the veil, however I think the bolero has too much detailing and doesn’t quite match your dress. For me, it actually takes away for the beauty of your dress. So I say plain dress, or dress with veil!!!
