This weekend I wrote about a unofficial counter we thought we were going to get:
They ended up countering asking us to pay 143,400 instead of the 139,900 asking price because we asked for closings costs. And they took away the washer and dryer. We said no way and countered with our original offer of 139,900 with closing costs, but eliminated the washer and dryer as they wished.
They accepted! And we got a washer and dryer free through our realtor! YAY! Now any tips for the rest of the process??

Congrats!!!!! Make sure you get a well recommended inspector to check everything out. Don’t just use the one the realtor advises.
sooo excited for you!!!!

Congrats! I’m glad you got it all worked out! How did you manage to convince your realtor to get you a washer and dryer? I like our realtor, but housing prices are high here, and I feel like he’s making a pretty penny for not too much work.

@AB Bride: It was actually our realtor’s coworker that gave us a free washer and dryer. They bought new and were getting rid of their old ones. But our realtor did offer to help move it for us.

Yay! Exciting! We are hoping to close on our house late this week or early next week. Trying for this week, but everything just takes FOREVER.
My advice….expect daily freakouts, panics, hurrying to get documents, even when you’ve already sent them. I made it my mission to not be the bottle-neck in this process, which basically means I respond ASAP to everything. It is very stressful.
Other advice….don’t buy anything! No furniture, etc. Just wait until after closing. Anything that changes your financial situation is a no-no.
I have had to keep reminding myself…..we’re buying a house, and in a few weeks it’ll all be over! 🙂
