OMFG it looks amazing!!!! Can’t wait to see it when its finished. I so envy you, I would love to build a house!!!
May I ask, what kind of loan did you get and what interest rate? Was the land already perked and build to suit, or did you have to do all that yourself?? Hubs and I are going to build our next house in 5-10 years (depending on how quick we can save) and I am trying to do as much research as I can

@MrsSl82Be: We got our mortgage through the USDA – the loan is rural development. The interest rate is insanely low – I believe we locked in at 3.375%. The neighborhood was developed by a builder we know and trust, but we still had to have the lot cleared and benched after purchase. Where we live, it was actually less expensive to find a lot and build than to buy an established house. Rural development also isn’t as rural as you might think! We are actually less than a half a mile from the city limits, but we have the perk of lower taxes since we aren’t actually in the city. I also purchased my first home at 75% completion under rural development and was very happy with it! If you have any questions feel free to PM me! 🙂 Building has been so much fun!

Good for you! Looks awesome, I’d love to have a lake in my back yard. Right now we have a pool and a creek but it’s not the same.

Wow! Congrats! If you don’t mind sharing, what state are you in?

@JoJo Bananas: We are urban-area Tennesseans 🙂 And my first house was in Arkansas.

@Grizz: thanks for the info!! We are thinking of going the same route – moving somewhere to get the USDA loan. That is so great that you were able to go the way you did, I hope that it will be closer to 5 years for us, and the the market doesn’t go crazy high by that time.
I will definitely PM, thanks!! And I am going to save this thread to my favorites, so that I can check back as you progress. I’m so excited for you, and LOVE the dark cabinets!!
