I am not usually one for dramatics nor am I indecisive which is probably why pausing for the cause of no wedding drama was necessary last week. Well after talking incessantly and getting some of those real, true, deep, dark and ugly feelings out (well at least of FI’s side) I found that there were some really scared feelings and a bit of confusion on both parts. This stupid wedding we didnt want to have (but were planning for everyone else’s happiness) really got bigger than us and it was causing us to be at one another’s throat constantly because we had no idea what to do SOOOOOO we decided to say screw it all and get married in Rio de Janeiro!
This will be a combination of celebrating her big 30th birthday, getting married and having our honeymoon all at the same time!
We also decided not to tell people that we are getting married. There is an extremely short list of people who are our “must haves” (i.e folks we cannot imagine NOT taking part in our day – 6-7 people max.) that we chose to share this with but no one else will know what is going on til the day we arrive in Brazil. This makes me extremely happy because there will be minimal fuss if any at all and we are going to be surrounded by lushness and beautiful people in a country I have come to absolutely adore.
I am so excited and wanted to share in my excitement with the lady bees.

A wedding in Rio sounds amazing! That’s wonderful that you are able to have the wedding you truly want with the people you love the most!

Congrats!! We’re actually looking at doing our honeymoon in Rio for the World Cup (yeah, we’re crazy), so I hope you’ll be posting a recap! I’m glad you made the choice that was the best for the both of you. That’s what really matters, not everyone else re-living their wedding vicariously through you.

Congrats girl! I am so excited for you! Your idea of a wedding sounds really awesome because you still get married and have your closest family/friends there without all the drama and stress of wedding planning! Plus, it will be in a beautiful location! BF and I are considering a destination wedding ourselves when we get engaged. 🙂
Best wishes to you and your FI! 🙂

@bleusteel: thank you bleu – we are doing now what we should have done from the beginning – focused strictly on what WE want so that’s what we did.
@MariContrary: you are right – that IS crazy lol. We initially were going for the world cup as well but when I saw they were expecting an additional 3 million tourists during that time in the city of Rio alone we said nooooooooooooooooo thanks lol. We will be there right before the craziness starts so we will get some of the excitement and none of the people lol. Definitely will do a re-cap. My first trip there was amazing and I love it there so I’m super excited to go back for this amazing event.
@VioletSky & @mrs_pudding_pop: Thanks to you both. I am excited.
@LadyBlackheart: I couldnt have said it better myself. This is exactly what we are doing. The most we plan to share with people is they need to bring a really nice outfit for a special birthday dinner and then we will surprise them with the wedding news lol.
