This is a continuation of an earlier post I made entitled “Upgrade Opinions, Please!” I am including pics of the sample I really liked and tried on at a different jeweler and the 1.8 diamond in what I thought was a temporary setting. We went to the jeweller today and it turns out the hubs likes the temporary setting best and the temporary setting is a more narrow band than the one that first caught my eye. They both made a case for white gold setting vs platinum which is what I always thought I would do if an upgrade was not yellow gold.
They also are leaning to smaller eternity bands and 3/4 around ones. I really liked the first pic example the best and they are 1.5 Ct each. So, long story short after seeing the diamond guy today I am confused and probably disappointed. The hubs won’t even offer an opinion, saying I get to choose whatever I want.
The first pic is a 1.0 center stone that is very much a rectangle radiant. My actual new diamond is a 1.8 radiant but is not as exagerated of a rectangle. I very much like symmetry I am wondering if the look I desire is achievable with less of a rectangle and if smaller eternity bands really look best. My niece also sent me pics of a couple of different eternity bands but I don’t think I can post them as I am having trouble saving them.
The diamond guy says .5 ct eternity bands will complement the diamond better but they just seem so small. I am just not seeing his vision. Help! For starters, bees, please offer your opinions on three questions: 1. platinum vs white gold; 2. what carat size eternity bands. 3. Are the eternity bands in the first pic too big? Thank you!
