@blushingbride2014:  I’m assuming you mean paper plates?  I personally wouldn’t go that route.

I would have to know what the differential is. If it’s a difference of a few hundred dollars, I’m inclined to just go with real glassware and real china. If we are talking thousands and since you are on a tight budget, upgraded disposables will have to do. Some are nicer than others however and the really nice ugraded disposables can get really quite pricey.

Maybe you can mix up and use disposable for dessert and hors d’oeuvres and use real china for entrees and salads?

Smartyhadaparty.com is what I am using for ‘upgraded disposables’. They are like plastic plates you throw away but they look ceramic…

I can’t link a pic but here is the actual link to the site.

My latest question I ask myself is “will it matter in a year? 5 years? When I’m grey?” depending how I answer it, I determine how much it’s worth. In this situation. I would probably say that it won’t matter in a year. So I’d go with upgraded disposables.

Commenting to follow, my caterer says most of her brides use upgraded disposabes and that really surprised me. Still trying to figure out what to do.
