DJ Jack at www.tmmpro.com did my cousin's lighting in January. This is slideshow from her wedding: http://www.tristalerit.com/glorianickwedding/
Good Luck
Hire someone who works in production, if you know anyone in the film industry they will be able to find someone. The rental is so cheap and the security deposit is literally nothing. I even rented a bubble machine and fluid for a party for less than $25. If you want to make sure you get beauty lighting...say you want "a kiss on your cheek" I'll bet you could get the person and the lights for $2-$300
We used www.invisibletouchdj.com for music, but they also have very sophisticated lighting. They provided uplighting for the entire reception space, which we did as a lounge, and it was very nice.
www.proaudiodj.com also does DJ and/or lighting services. They are really good, but a bit pricey.
Does anybody know other local recommendatins that are affordable for uplighting?
I just met Amber from Amber Event Production for my friend's wedding. She is located in Anaheim. Email her to get a quote, but it'll be more accurate if she goes with you to see the venue: amber@ambereventproduction.com. Their portfolio looks really nice and Amber is super sweet. She also does draping, audio and visual.

Can anyone recommend a good vendor for uplighting ? I am trying to find someone in southern california. Has anyone had any good experiences with any lighting vendors? If so, care to share?
