We choose our venue, which is a historical location. We fell in love the minute we walked in. We are doing a cocktail reception and there will be lots of cocktail tables and lots of comfy seating. We are having passed foods and stations along with a dessert bar.
My dilemma is that we purchased uplighting before we found our place (im not sure why we did this, only except we got a good deal on it). We wanted to use red lights since our colors are red, black and white and it is during Christmas time.
Sorry for the bad pictures, they were taken with my phone.

I think you could still use them for your cocktail lounge area or around the dance floor.

i might change the color from red to something else? but uplighting is always fun and dramatic. 🙂

Uplighting is NEVER EVER a bad thing in ANY venue!

Oooooh use it on all the awesome columns! It’ll add so much special drama to the room and the architecture! (i’m also doing uplighting, so i’m a little biased!)

Any suggestions on what color? The color we currently have looks like this:

I agree, uplighting adds drama to any room. I always like a classic soft gold color that’s universally flattering on skin tones. I didn’t think about it until I bought gels for our uplights and the lady was showing me different colors and showing me how it affects skin tones for photos. There’s a gel color that’s literally has “perfect skin tone” in the title!

Send pics to the company doing the lighting, they can advise you on what it will look like. I’m not sure if you meant you bought the service or the equiptment. If you just have the equiptment, you could potentially ask an uplighting company what they would do to your venue, or search flickr for pics of your venue with uplighting.

i think something gold and illuminating could be awesome, as long as you go “magical” and not “modern” with the tone!

I love uplighting and I would say go for it!

We bought it ourselves and my Fiance was going to set it up. I’m really leaning towards not doing it at all for some reason….I think we are going to visit the venue at night and see what it looks like. Theres already a very warm ambiance there.
